ChaoticLaw plays FTL: Episode 2 and some info

Episode 2 is up, featuring the ridiculous(ly large) ship layout that is the AE-780 Cruiser! This took a lot of time to get working properly, and the ship itself is not finished (room images aren't even started), but I hope this makes for an entertaining run.
Cruiser AE-780 'Labyrinth'
The Cruiser AE-780, aka the 'Labyrinth' was a conceptual design for the Federation Cruiser. Not much in terms of firepower, but the design focused on what could be done, regardless of any other factor, be it fuel usage, shield generation or evasion. The result is a cruiser made with 15 by 8 1x1 rooms, ideal for when the resistance attempted to board ships.
Budget constraints in creating the life-size concept limited engineers to only being able to attach a Burst Laser Mk 2 to its weapon systems. The Federation Artillery Beam was however kept in the model.
Episode 2 Trivia
- The name that I set for the Cruiser breaks the limit that FTL allows players to name their ships. This doesn't play well graphically, but I've yet to see any negative effects gameplay-wise.
- While making this, I had to generate the plan 3 times, since I didn't know how large the room layout was going to be.
- Though all the rooms are 1x1, FTL seems to render the rooms in different orders, so there seems to be room borders in some cases, and for other rooms not. This might have something to do with the maximum limits that FTL has in its code.
- The above is noticeable particularly when sensors are off, where empty rooms aren't rendered at all. This can be seen when the Cruiser jumps into a nebula.
- Was mostly well received when shown to people at Reddit.
In short, it's fun to break the game. :P

I've readied the update for the 3rd episode! Running this ship wasn't nearly as good an idea as I had thought it to be, and we take a whole bunch of damage. This isn't good... not good at all!
Everything's invading, and setting stuff on fire, and the oxygen won't drain... Oh why doesn't the oxygen drain!?

Oh look, an update! This time, we run around, and realise that we don't have any fuel for long-distant jumps. So we wait it out and see if we can get some fuel.
This doesn't end well.

Episode 6 has us continuing on our way, and though there are a few tense moments, in the end, things will work out rather fine. Also cloaking!

In Episode 7, we continue on our way with the Peregrine, and we just blast through everything! With only minor damage sustained, we seem well fitted to take on the Last Stand!

Episode 8 is out, and we take on the Last Stand for the first time proper! Things go pretty well overall, except where I don't have me jumping into it.
You can watch the episode here!
About the Peregrine
The mod was developed pretty early on when modding was just coming into the scene with FTL. It began quite overpowered, with several systems already powered up and ready for action. I did leave it off because of the hassle of gib alignment, and didn't come back to it for a while.
More recently however, I had gotten back into it, and though I once again didn't work with the gibs, I did change up the system levels so that players didn't feel like they had a ridiculous advantage. Additionally, I switched out the weapons, the old ones being rather unoriginal and without direction of choice.
Though I don't have this recent file anymore (thank computer failure for that), I'm glad to have learnt the rather difficult way of building player ships in FTL.
As for next time, I'm working on trying to get another mod. This one should hopefully be more complete, and this one might come out for public use! I'll do the gibs, I swear...

A new ship, and a new adventure is here! I take out a mod for a spin, and oh look, it's a ship I'm actually going to complete (hopefully)! It offers quite a bit in terms of play-style flexibility, and a pretty balanced starting loadout. Just got to be careful with our newly found artillery...

I finally get around to doing Episodes 10 and 11, and this time, we're cruising with much more ease, with all our weaponry to make this a rather comfortable experience. We grab another mantis as part of our crew, and we break down an augment, though you can't seem to do it with all the others...
