It's the 2nd phase that gets me every time. 1st phase is easy, piece of cake. 2nd, O MY GOD. So many drones!

Yup, stage 2 is THE stage to beat. 9 out of 10 times it's the worst stage.

Agreed. I just made it to sector 8 for the first time on a shieldless run. Oh god that Drone phase was new kinds of evil.

I lost. I had 2 Hull Laser I, 1 Hull Laser 2, a fire bomb and rock boarding crew and I still lost.

Good man. It ain't easy. Make sure you use only level 1 cloaking against the surges. It's enough and the cloak recycles barely in time. You really need to work hard to neutralise as much of the flagship's offense as quickly as possible. It's nigh-on impossible to pull it off, and after 80+ attempts all i can boast about is 2 deaths during stage 2.
