I have read the recent update changes, and i would like them really badly. However, I bought FTL from a site like this,(or maybe it was this site) and I don't know how to update. If anyone could help, it would be much apreaciated.

If you bought it from this site, then you received an email with a personal download link inside.
If you open this email and click this link again, you will be brought to your personal download page, where you can download the latest version of the game.
