Netbook Colour Issues

Hi there,

I recently purchased FTL from Gog.com and installed it on my desktop. Absolutely no problems there.

However, I installed it on my netbook, (which resolution is 1024 x 768) and I get this issue with the text:

This problem also shows in game, where I cannot adjust my power levels as the colours don't allow me to see anything.

I've used an HDMI cable to put it on my TV which gives it an even higher resolution, but the colours are still the same.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game - the problem isn't fixed. I'm really stumped on this.

Aside from that, this game is absolutely astounding.

This is most likely a graphics driver issue. What graphics card does your netbook have? Have you made sure you have found and installed the most up-to-date drivers?

Thanks for the fast reply.

Because it's a netbook, naturally my "video card" is garbage. I was hoping it wasn't that, but I suppose I'll find out soon.

I have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 Series.

It is already fully updated, so I can't go much further from there.

Would you have any other suggestions?

Can you check your FTL installation folder for the file "stdout.txt" that might have some useful logging.

Have you tried other window modes (windowed / fullscreen stretched / fullscreen native / etc.) ?

It really is likely a video driver issue, those intel integrated cards are unreliable in the OpenGL support (which is why we list them as not officially supported). Even if you're up to date, try uninstalling your current ones and reinstalling the most up to date as a long shot attempt.

Hi,

The Stdout.txt reads:

Initializing Video
Video Initialized
Opengl version = 3.0
Starting audio library...
Audio Initialized!
Resource Preload: 24978
Initializing animations...
Animations Initialized!
Loading Ship Blueprints....
Blueprints Loaded!
Initializing Sound Data....
Generating world...
Loading achievements...
Loading score file...
Creating FBO...
Running Game!

I've also tried the different windowed modes - on both my netbook and on the TV for different resolutions - to no avail.

I've disabled/enabled and uninstalled/reinstalled the driver. Still no fix.

That all being said, it still works fine on my desktop. If it doesn't work on my netbook because of the graphics card, so be it. I'm not going to lose sleepover it.

If a fix could be made for it, that would be great. Either way, I'm still getting to enjoy the game on my other computer.

I have the exact same issue. I also have the same graphics card (it may even be the same netbook).
Have you had any luck or found any workarounds?
I actually bought this netbook solely to play FTL while traveling. Guess I may need to return it.

Sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately I have not found a workaround for it yet.

I have an Asus netbook.

Hi Saint. I'm sorry about the issue, but the same explanation still applies... the OpenGL support on older integrated intel cards just tend to be poor. If you purchased the game directly from us I'd be happy to offer you a refund, just email me your purchase info to zasdarq@ftlgame.com.
