Crew Name Pool Modification Mod Request

I would like to change the pool of names that can be assigned to crew within the game. I, personally, have no experience and my PC objects to using "ftldat".

I was wondering if anyone could create a simple mod (GMM compatible) that would make the process of adding, deleting and editing the crew names within the file that contains the possible names of crew in the game.

My understanding is that a program would have to accompany the mod much like the ship editor so that it can extract the current list of names, allow the player to make changes, save the changes and then be ran through GMM to implement the changes into the game.

I have both a Steam and non-Steam version of the game.

Thank-you in advance if you'd like to take on this rather simple and limited in scope mod.

You can change the names anyway, if you unpack data.dat with GMM. There's a file in there called names which you can edit as you please.

He can't use ftldat, it refuses to run. That's why he's asking for an editable mod.

It sounds like you have no objection to changing the XML, you just have no ability to extract the resource files.

GMM extracts the game resource files when it is run. If you are able to run that, then you'll have the files you need and will be able to mod the game without ever downloading FTLDat.

On the other hand, if you can't run FTLDat, you may not be able to run GMM either.

That's why I said unpack with GMM.
