after hours and hours of playing, i'm getting bored w/the game.

suggest a good mod to play?

Depends on what you enjoy, I suppose.

• Duality & Merchant cruisers - A two-for-one ship mod. Offers some interesting and unique ways to play, perhaps a bit more challenging than the default ships.
• Weapons of Mass Distraction - Alters some existing weapons and adds several new ones. Worth a look if you feel the variety of firepower in default FTL is lacking.
• Starcraft Conversion - Still working out the kinks, but playable in its current form. Replaces all 18 ships with Starcraft vessels / creations. All seem designed to stay pretty true their SC counterparts, which makes for a particularly interesting twist.
• Sonata TC - An in-depth conversion based on a mod of the Endless Space universe. If default FTL is getting old for you, definitely check this one out.
• Infinite Space - still a WIP, but includes some very challenging boss fights once you've upgraded a bit. Since it's "infinite," you basically just keep going until you die, which may or may not get boring for you after a while.

The Obsidian Cruiser in my sig has also garnered some positive feedback, if you just want a new ship to change things up with. Includes a pair of custom weapons to fit the ship's overall aesthetic.

didn;t like duality with one side of the ship inaccessable.

•Weapons of Mass Distraction - geez.. and i thought weapons in FTL were overpowered already.
i'm basically looking for more balanced weapons. dual ion 1 or an ion 2 = EASY win
small bomb, dual lasers and burst laser 2 are also overpowered.

never played Starcraft, and no idea what Endless Space is.

will check out infinite space.
