Ignore modman.exe for now (it's broken), and run main.py directly.
- Windows XP: Double-click main.py.
- Windows Vista/7/8: may have to do this.

Every time I run this it says there's no supported version of Python detected.

I have Python 2.7.5 in C:\Python27

If I run the modman.exe, it gives me that error and fails.

If I run main.py itself, it starts up (asks me for the path, allows me to use mods, patches).

Is that good enough or am I missing something crucial by not running modman.exe?

It quits out whenever I select the .exe

Oh, sorry. I misread your post.
You were running main.py. So it's asking where to find FTL?

You need to point it to "C:\location\of\FTL\resources\data.dat" not FTLGame.exe.
