I just downloaded it from MediaFire from the original link with no problems.
If it frequently goes down, I will happily repackage the images with a fresh, made-by-me ftl file so there is no fear of copyright infringement. The images are public domain and unmodified, though the planets may not be in all cases I'll make sure to substitute others in their place.

I tried the link on the first page of this thread but the screen keeps loading and eventually time out. Tried a couple of times and it is the same. Don't think it's my broadband as i can open other pages fine. I'll try again tomorrow.

When using MediaFire I have to unblock the site in NoScript otherwise the download link doesn't work. Maybe some protection plugin is blocking the site in your browser.

Love this mod. While limited in scope, the implemented modifications show great attention to detail and result in very noticeable visual improvements over the base game without deviating too much from its original style. Beautifully done, splette! Many thanks for your excellent contribution to FTL modding!

I can confirm this mod works with Advanced Edn, I've been using it for months now without any problems.
Also, you can use some of
scooterbaga Replacers to get high-res versions of the new AE graphics.

Hey I tweaked these graphics. I added sharpening, adjusted levels, added some subtle glow, fixed some flaws (like the blue planet you can see a line running down the side). Here it is if anyone is interested:
