The 4th wall is broken there cause it was deemed necessary.
I know, i'm saying it's a bad desicion, one of the very few ones in thole mod. The wost imo....and its not that bad so that says alot about the quality of the mod.
Keeping a batch of Luxury Goods, Slug Drugs or Crystal Artifacts and hitting all shops in a sector would easily give you another 200 scrap in a single sector
Easily? i tried out a slug ship with a cargo teleporter (1 aug slot) AND slug drugs (2nd slot). I made on average 100 scrap per sector.
Thats half what you are saying ....with cargo teleporter....and with it being something to start with.
Your calculation is off.
Having rare goods in stock that are in demand in a civilian sector and hitting all the shops could give you even more.
This has a very low probability of happening. It's equivalent of getting a weapon pre-igniter in sector 1
Getting Luxury Goods in sector one goods and keeping them for the whole game could easily net over 1000 scrap
.
Again...'easily'....
Then reduce the scrap given in the first selling stage, increase the cost of the aug in the store. And increase the rarity.
Do...not...break...4th...wall...
It also would make trading feel not like trading any more, its more like you get money augs that give you free money in each sector.
1: the sentence i typed feels just fine. " i've got raw ore, and the augment slot must be the machinery to harvest some more...."
2: they arn't free.
3:They take up a precious aug
4: they cost 1 jump beacon of time
5(ish) And force your hand when choosing a sector)
As the article you linked describes, fourth wall breaking is simply a story telling/theatre technique. I see no right or wrong ways to do that.Well I guess it's bad theatre when the actors break the 4th wall unintentionally.
Well, i don't mean to confront you on this, but isn't being forced by the programming 'unintentionally' breaking the 4th wall?
In the case of CE's trade system, it was used to ultimately exceed the limitations moding is faced with in this game.....
...but nothing is stopping you using the sentence i provided....
I can see that some players might be irritated by that at first, but I guess after some time you know what's up and can just read over the reminder anyway.
With my testing every single tester mention it......so it's not 'some'. it was
ALL.
I love the trading system...its genius. Bending the event system the way it was is brilliant..
....reminding the player they are playing a game is awful. telling them they are cheating makes it EVEN WORSE
The examples given are professionally done....your trade system would be better with the batch sentence.
you aren't seeing it that way because it's become familiar...and reminds you of the stress of modding....this stress is blinding you to a simple solution.
Trust...it's better with my suggestion. It's a HARD problem to solve but it is solvable, you just give in a little to what can't be changed.
In conclusion
= It can't be ignored, all my testers agreed
= It's not your fault the augs can't be removed via event scripts
= they aren't free (aug slot, time)
=The costs are fine, but can be re-balanced.
= the sentence i provided feels like trading . (produce in 'cargo' + equipment in aug slot)
