"That's right folks! I'm geared up and headed down to the moon. Scans show that while the moon has a mostly-O2 atmosphere, it's not enough to sustain human life. Oh, and, Lux - I'm taking a shuttle. As she said, Sarah's maintaining the systems up here while I'm away.
Kyrie, do you wanna come as backup? I could use a hand here. You don't need a full blown EVA suit, a Haz suit will do just fine. Let me know if you're coming and head to the shuttle," Jake boarded the shuttle, and waited for Kyrie's reply. He was so excited to meet these new people - no matter how primitive they seemed. This world was obviously divided, so it wouldn't be like other negotiations with other united worlds - much more complex. He needed to make it his goal to stay as un-biased as possible.
According to his scans, the moon was cold - like a fall day of Earth, not excessive. The creatures there were very tall with very flimsy body structure. Gravity was very low on this moon, meaning that these 10-foot tall life forms could move around without toppling over. They were humanoid of sorts, with two arms and two legs. However, precision scans showed that their skin - which was stretched tightly around their bone structure, was a dry but rubbery material - excellent at conserving heat and absorbing sunlight. In the surface of the skin, Jake noticed some form of chloroplast - signifying that these creatures photosynthesized. This explains why the didn't have mouths or a digestive system. They were also hairless, their only features being the yellowish rubbery skin. Jake couldn't detect any form of eye either. He wondered how the creatures could see!
Bren relaxed as he kept a scan of the area above space, just in case.
Lux was geared up and suited for the expedition down to the planet, taking a seat on the shuttle Jake would be using. "You're going to need a bit more backup" she explained, checking the status of her blaster "Just because I'm on a ship with crazy cannibals doesn't mean I'm too unstable for First Contact..."
She pointed towards the Pelican "Besides, Eden can do an emergency beam-out much better if I have a tracking device calibrated to the cargo teleporter."
Although I wouldn't put it past one of those factions to intercept us at the LZ... that happened a lot on Captain Awesome, she thought to herself, Makes sense as to why you'd only see those alien species once in the series. They didn't join the Federation due to their division.

Bren cotninued his watch, "Hang on I'm getting a distress signal in the nearby beacon, I'm going to go check it out" he said, "Hopefully I can do anything to help who is out there" he said turning his ship and warping to the nearby beacon'
(basically to give me something to do while you play with the natives, now if its a trap or a real distres beacon, its all up to you ^_^)
"Of course I want to go! We probably won't have another chance to do something like this." Kyrie stepped into the hazmat suit and grabbed her blaster. She hurried to the shuttle and took a seat with Jake and Lux. "I wonder how they communicate without mouths. Or see without eyes. Maybe it's too dark to see much there. Or maybe they see with their skin, sensing all the light. I wonder what they'll think of us, being so short compared to them." She was obviously excited, almost hyper. "Do you think they wear clothes? I wonder what they'll think about these haz suits."

"Scans show they have a kind of organic 'trumpet' sticking out of their right or left shoulder. A vibrating muscle deep inside the trumpet vibrates to make very loud sound," Jake said. "They have pads of organic tissue attached directly under the skin, which seem to pick up subtle vibrations through the skin. I assume that's how they hear. Still no idea how they see, though."
Jake was amazed at how precise the sensors were. He already knew fine details about these beings before he even met them. There was a distant bang from above as the docking clamps retracted. The maneuvering energy pads activated and they whirred away from the ship. What were maneuvering energy pads? Jake had no idea. They were panels that emitted energy to somehow create force - to replace liquid-fuel micro thrusters.
Bren jumped to the next beacon looking around for anyone who could need help, or perhaps even a trap...however he wasn't getting anything at the moment
"Alright diverting power from the weapons to sensors, lets see if we can pick up where the signal is coming from, its the damn nebula blocking our short wave" he said groaning a bit as he tuned a bit
He looked around, hoping he could track down the signal, "Don't like being in the nebula, I always feel blind in here" he grumbled
"Well good thing I'm coming along then" Lux giggled "I'll probably be able to figure out something about these aliens..."
She started making her own guesses as to how the aliens might be able to see; Slugs used telepathy to bolster their own poor visual range, there were races of humanoid species that used echolocation like a bat would and then there were those Engies who didn't use conventional visual input devices. "The Zoltan also have myths about a wise old man who's blind but sees everything..." she added.
I wonder if they're not asking the same questions about us, she thought to herself, Even if we are protected by these adaptive gel suits I'm still worrying we might accidentally catch some alien disease we're not prepared for if they catch one of ours.
The shuttle automatically flew over the landscape to the landing zone. Lush green forests and crystal blue oceans rushed past them as they zoomed across the planet.
Eventually, the ship rapidly yet smoothly came to an abrupt stop, hovering in the air before defending onto a massive concrete landing platform. Helicopters flew around as they descended, and thousands of people flooded the landing pad, with a few people in military uniform desperately holding back the oncoming crowd.
Once they settled into a 1 foot hover over the surface, Jake put the ship in park (yes, yes he did) and opened the doors.
Jake was first to exit, bouncing to the surface in the low gravity. A few of the 10 foot tall creatures stood over him. The ones in military uniform were trying to subdue the pulsating crowd here to see the... Aliens.
Lux rolled her eyes. All the first contact videos seemed to do that. Everyone wanted to show off the impulse engines to those who hadn't mastered artificial gravity.
She then jumped out gently from the shuttle and stood behind and to the side of Jake as if in a formation of sorts. The low gravity reminded her of one of those old colony ships she heard about with the rotating sections.
"You've drawn quite a crowd, Captain my Captain" Lux giggled "I can only hope those soldiers can protect us from them in case it's not a friendly mob."
Kyrie jumped out beside Lux and looked around nervously at the huge crowd. They towered over the three by several feet. A few in the crowd held some sort of device that seemed to be pointed at them. Cameras maybe? A few of them inside the circle had some sort of robes on, a couple others wore uniforms similar to the soldiers, but had colored strings around the neck. "I hope we don't have to stay here to talk to them. That crowd is pretty rowdy."
