"Avoid first contact and let the Slugs... or god forbid, Rebels get to 'em first?" Jake asked. "I don't think so!"
Edit:
Speaking of which, two ships jumped into the beacon. One a Rebel, and another a Slug. They almost bumped into each other in the nebula, and they quickly began to fire upon one another. Neither ship had the advanced sensors Jake had, so they didn't detect the populated moon - or even the planet from their distance. The jump beacon was simply too far from the planet & its moon.
This is why I'm doing first contact. The beacon is so far away and this planet is so shrouded in nebula - how could anyone detect it, except me? Jake thought. Other than a ship happening to blunder past, no present day ship could detect this civilization.
That's why the've been safe all these years. Bad sensors, a nebula, and a poorly positioned Jump Beacon
The Slug and Rebel almost bumped into each other, before they launched into an all-out war. The Slug ship was torn to shreds, and the Rebel ship was quite damaged. The Rebel ship collected debris from the blast zone, when suddenly, it turned and headed for Jake.
Damn! They can't detect this god damned planet, but they can detect me??? Jake thought. Jakes energy signature must've been easily detected. So even though no one had ever detected this moon, they detected Jake!
Jake watched in horror as the Rebel ship approached, finally detecting the moon near Jake.
I may be first contact... Jake thought, watching the orange ship emerge from the clouds.
But you sure as hell won't be second...
The as the Rebel caught up to Jake, the planet signaled below.
"Is this your commrade?" They asked.
Without a response, Jake powered on weapons and tore the Rebels to shreds, before their weapons even finished charging.
"No," Jake whispered to no one as the Rebels broke apart.
Signals came in from below:
"What was that? You people are violent and destructive! Do not land here!"
"We want nothing to do with you. You're weapons pose a threat to our entire world,"
The international agency came in:
"We demand an explanation of this destruction!"
Jake supposed he should respond, "I represent the United Rogue Union, we are allied with the United Federation of Planets. We're the good guys. Those are the Rebels, they are a galactic empire bent on destruction and galactic domination,"
"We... we don't have a policy to deal with this..." The poor guy on the radio sounded so helpless with those words. We will hold an emergency meeting with our representatives. "
"If the Rebels had found you, they would've destroyed you!" Jake said desperately.
The agency ended transmission.
