Lux said "I wouldn't be that harsh on him. He was raised on a slave ship with much more deplorable conditions than what your crew has."
"I would like to clean this place up from bow to stern, but a clean ship doesn't make for a fearsome crew and I need to keep up that reputation of being ferocious amongst other pirates" Eden said "Don't want to lure them into a false sense of security after all..."

She ordered her crew to tighten up the doors of the Pelican and run a cable through. "We're ready to jump... can you get a reading on the next beacon? I'm getting either a distress signal or a merchant transponder"
Later, after we stripped the Robin and got a ton of scrap: (When you blow up a ship a lot of loot is destroyed, but in this case we should get a ton of scrap from disassembly, since we have a lot of time to do so.
Now, what's left of the Robin is only its structural shell!)

"Well," Jake began, as Bren relayed the salvage data they had recovered. "I would say merchant location, we have a ton of scrap to buy all the upgrades we want! We could also donate some of that to Lux's runabout-in-progress."
They also now had in their supplies a Crystal Burst Mark 1, and 3 old 1 shot lasers. Also the Repair drone schematic he hung onto.

"Wish we didn't have to do that to the antique...but I guess it was enviable" Bren said sighing. "Lets hope the merchant has a decent ship for sale" (for irony, only slug ships LOL. )

At the next beacon, it was indeed a merchant transponder. Some enterprising salesman had converted a decommissioned Federation Carrier into a superfreighter; it couldn't carry ships as large as cruisers within but it could certainly carry a whole lot of smaller ships. A few of them were on the top deck as if on display; but they all seemed to be Slug Interceptors.
Now that the transponder signal was much clearer, it started advertising. "Heads up folks! Trenchcoat's Treasure Trove is here! Are you buyin' or sellin'? It don't matter where this stuff comes from! I said come in, don't just stand there!"

Eden chuckled "Ah good old Trenchcoat... he says he likes to hide out in nebulae when not making the trip to the dangerous sectors."

Plot twist! Trenchcoat is a giant alien spider and the Robin makes for a perfect nest!

"You know him, think he can be trusted?" Bren asked as the com was being spammed with "Deals of the Day"

"Slug Merchants have to usually be careful, they usually only pick out suckers to cheat, but Trench Coat is known through slug space to be very fair, he keeps plenty of custom anti-personal drones around him so no one can cheat him, and he never cheats anyone. You are in the presences of the most honest merchant within the nebulas, that I can promise" Gorlag explained

"Of course doesn't change the fact he will over charge, supply and demand after all" Gorlag added with a slight smirk

"Well as long as he can provide a good ship replacement I'm fine with that" Bren said

Jake activated the radio on the fleet-wide channel. "Bren, you seem to be our Resource Manager on this lovely operation. Take the inventory manifest and go do all the shopping you need. Find ships with high maneuverability, good thrust, and fast FTL recharge - to hold out against any Black Holes as long as possible. Lux and Eden, consult Bren on resource management for your runabout project. You have my full support, as it could be very useful in the future."

Next, Jake switched the radio to the "Commerce Advertising" channel, as specified by the Merchant's automated message.

"This is Fleet Commander Jake Collins, Captain of the Mature and commander of the Pelican and the Ro-" He was so used to having the Robin under his command.
"Commander of the Pelican" he continued. "We are in the market for a new ship. We want high maneuverability, good thrust, and good FTL recharge. Just hail the ship at docking port 2A." He switched off the microphone, and waited for incoming hails.

As he spun lazily in the piloting chair, he thought about how far they'd come. He was only 14 years old, and he called himself "Fleet Commander." He was 14 years old, commanding a top-secret military mission for the United Federation. He was 14 years old, piloting a starship that hadn't been invented yet.

He was 14 years old, and the entire fate of the galaxy rested on his shoulders. And the galaxy didn't even know it.

Bren sighed as he walking onto port to be greeted by a combat drone, "Welcome to the market, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Be sure to ask about the free cakes made with stiff dough provided by the ships chef. "

"I'll keep it in mind, I'm in the market for a new ship, as well as some new parts for a project" he said holding up the tablet with all the scrap, credits, tradable goods, prisoner's etc. they had to offer.

Gorlag was behind him to help support him while Ruwen stayed on the ship.

"Go that way, follow the purple line on the floor, it will lead you to the hanger with the ships for sale, a merchant will be there to talk to you if you need any questions. We also provide a free estimate if you wish to have your ships looked at" it said, clearly it was meant for 2 things, combat and salesmenship, whoever this Trenchcoat was clearly knew how to program drones, or at least employed people who did.

(also I feel the only people RPing is me Eye, and Styles LOL where is everyone else LOL)

Trenchcoat's reply came back rather quickly; he was shown as an old man with a long beard, a woolly hat and a very big trenchcoat. However his image had an obvious blue tinge to it to indicate it was a projection. "Ah! You in the market for a fighter craft? Because that's all we're sellin' when it comes to ships. I'm not a fancy starbase or shipyard."
Eden said to Jake "Trenchcoat's not exactly on good terms with the authorities even if he's an honest trader..."
She docked the Pelican above the carrier and headed inside and switched off her comms; Trenchcoat's projection appeared next to her "Looks like you're expecting again... what is it this time?"
"Two pirates. You should be receiving the data on them now..."
"Oh... it's them. I'd be glad to take them off you and your wasitline" Trenchcoat said "The Dead Whale Society could use more labourers when I make the return trip."
"I knew I could count on you..."

Meanwhile, a projection of Trenchcoat appeared next to Bren "I can see you will not be interested in the range of Slug Interceptors. The isolated oxygen and engine systems are designed for easy replacement and short trips. Considering you're going a long way, those would be deathtraps."
An old Rebel Rigger was wheeled across the hangar deck. Think of those curved "Rebel" ships from Captain's Edition. Those were meant to be early designs for Rebel ships before being replaced with something blocky
"This might suit yer needs more. Again, don't ask where I got it, just that I got it and there will be no invoice or receipt."
"What do you think Bren? Not like we have variety here" Lux commented to the Zoltan, gesturing about the hangar.

Cruisers are pretty big things to have inside a carrier; the best you'd get are the small craft.
Also, I'm thinking Trenchcoat could be an old AI. Probably used to work for the Engies

"It will have to do" he said sighing, however he noticed something, a ship that looked similar to slug but its clear it was more inspired rather then was a slug ship

"What about that one?" he asked pointing to it (ya mind, if not I can just rewrite this LOL)

"That old thing? Well it fell off the back of a Space Tug" Trenchcoat said with a hearty laugh "if you catch my drift of course..."
A few drones moved the Rigger out of the way and brought in the other ship. "The transponder calls it the Scarab but you can choose a new name before you leave."
He started listing off a bunch of features, casually going over something called a "Dimensional Transducer Flux Modulation Beam."
"Wait... what's that supposed to mean?" Lux asked, curiously.
"According to the instruction manual, it can disrupt most cloaking devices, including its own" Trenchcoat said "Probably one of those Slug experiments with nebula gasses... in any case, it doesn't actually work. If it did, it would have been sold already."
Lux giggled "Well it certainly looks cool."
"Of course you kids would! So what are you offering in exchange? I can't just sell it to you for the wreck of your old ship, even if most of it is intact... that thing is older than my dear Soprano and not as beautiful."

Bren looked over the ship, "a ship like that and with a tool like that would help out our cause a lot...heck we might be able to alter the tool to be an anti-stealth weapon" he thought to himself

"Alright, the price, we have plenty of scrap, prisonors for bounties, the old ship for scrap, a few odds and ends, and you would be sleeping well tonight knowing your helping the Federation"

Of course that last one would only make Trenchcoat laugh.

"All those sound like fine offers but I'm interested in a more..." Trenchcoat started before his holograms lit up "That's some fancy tech you got there on that ship... and that AI, bless her digital ghost that she's a real cutie... tell me friends what sort of tech have you got on your ship that you're not going to be using?"
He rubbed his hands together "I know a few people who'd love to crack open some of those databanks."
Lux whispered to Bren "I think he wants to know about the singularity tech we..."
"Oh so that's what it is? A singularity generator?" Trenchcoat laughed "I heard about those. Tell me, you wanna sell it to ol' Trenchcoat and take it off your hands? The Rebels would no doubt want to chase you to the ends of the galaxy to prevent you having that... but they ain't caught ol' Trenchcoat and I doubt they'd ever will even if I had some of their stuff."
