Gat's servos whirred with delight when the Mantis acknowledged her – but quieted down when she saw the mob chasing after him. She began sprinting after the Mantis, as fast as her semi-mechanical legs could carry her. Creator, it was always the Mantises. Well, at least he'd said something about talking to the captain.

Not even bothering to ask permission, Gat barreled through the window in pursuit of the Mantis. She landed on a hangar floor and rolled to distribute the impact, a trick she'd learned from her pirate days. She slowed down as she came into another rooming, spotting the Mantis from before as well as a blue-skinned human. She rested her hands on her knees, blowing out a long stream of silicon smoke as she caught her breath.

Adequately composed, she extended a robotic hand to the blue human to shake. "The names Gat, weapons mechanic and engineer extraordinaire. Are you the captain of this rig? I've been told to speak to the cap'n about getting hired." She flashed her faceplate in the approximation of a smile. "I'm out of work for the moment, and could use a job on a spacefaring rig. I don't cost much, either. Whaddaya say?"

Kr tried to follow them out the window, but the angry mob was too close and he had to go back up the stairs. He smashed he only window on that floor and jumped out onto a metal roof. He ran across and jumped off again, landing in a giant pile of Xec dung (like an ox). He climbed out covered in it. Kr looked up to see the engi talking to Tabitha and Targon. He picked up a large amount of the poop and walked over to the engi, throwing it at it's face plate. "We would have gotten that head if it weren't for her high-ness here. That was rebel technology!" He walked onto the ship to clean the dung off of himself.

Tabitha returned the handshake. "Ensign Tabitha Mia, Galactic Federation... I'm fresh out of the Academy but I used to run a restaurant before enlisting" she introduced herself "I also did the occasional bout of hunting for food to put on those plates."
"You could say I'm a sniper, pilot and cook" she added with a laugh and gesturing to all around the ship "Our Captain is the AI of this vessel, Quintet. Very temperamental and you won't know if he's trying to kill you or save your life with his actions."
She reflexively ducked as the crap started flying around the cargo hold and then she quickly headed for the helm to get the ship moving away from the angry mob.

"No, she's not captain here. I am."
Quintet opened up the speakerphones and began to talk.
"Get all the injured into the medbay. That dead leg won't do you much good. And, no, I didn't poison a steak with giant alien spider venom. First of all, I took the poisoned whale meat with me and used to kill someone, second of all, it wasn't giant alien spider venom. What I used was weakened Black Blood, or C-24. I created it myself and used it on a populated planet. Killed about 200,000 easy. The weakened version won't spread, but will kill any one thing. It's insanely rare, so I'll probably just end up selling it off and setting it off to mess with some poor merchant."
Quintet then turned his attention the the new engi.
"You're on the crew, but believe me when I tell you we can't pay you right now. Exactly how cheap are you, by the way?"
Quintet then messaged his original partner.
"I get it. I killed a whole planet because one of their citizens annoyed me. Now then, are we on speaking terms? And will you take all my Black Blood and dump it on... I don't know, the next populous planet you see."
Quintet powered a repair drone and joined the fight.

Gat made the closest equivalent of a smile she could using only the light on her faceplate. It was good that she could actually communicate with one of the crew members, that was an auspicious sign. "Nice ta meetcha, Tabitha."

Suddenly, there was the distinctive sound of a Mantis saying something about an Engi. She turned out of sheer reflex, just in time to get a faceful of dung. Great. Her hand replaced itself with a mechanical scrubber, allowing her to efficiently clean off her faceplate. "Watch your tongue, insect. This Engi's got bite, especially if you underestimate me." She made a rude gesture with her non-scrubbing arm.

Before she had time to throw another insult, the real captain made contact. An AI, and a cheap and angry one at that. Whatever, she'd worked with AIs before. They all cracked, sooner or later, especially if you took a screwdriver to their terminal. "I'm willing to work for the same wage as these fellows – certainly a good deal, considering your pilot is just out of the academy and I'm a tried and true mechanic. All I need is room, board, and some cash for smokes. That work for you?"

Arkangel walked out of the alleyway only to see an angry mob chasing after Kr, Targon and an engi. He then instinctively morphed with the ground and slowly made his way to the ship.

Tabitha sealed the doors once everyone was onboard and quickly got the ship moving, hoping Quintet talked to the station control to allow clearance for departure - last thing she wanted to do was collide with incoming traffic.
"I'm fresh out of the Academy but don't dismiss me as some sort of rookie, Gat" she said over the comms "I had to learn how to fly pretty quickly to escape the Rebels on my homeworld."

Quintet grabbed a plasma welder out of the drone's repair toolbox and used it on an incoming mantis, sending it reeling backwards screaming.
"Hey! I should use this for torture sometime. Probably capture a rebel agent and get their fleet's movement plans. In fact, I'll do that once we clear this horde and everyone's off the ship. Maybe. Who knows!"
Quintet put up the welder and shot directly into the horde before announcing over the communication headsets, not the speakers.
"We could sit here shooting for an hour or so and just might clear these guys. I've got a better idea. Everyone, clear to the back of the ship. I think I can vent out a good portion of these maniacs. If not, I'll use a skill I haven't used in a while!"
Quintet replied to Gat.
"Well, I don't think I've payed my original crew a scrap of a scrap yet. They were sent here by the feds."

(Is this not counting as two major plot points? I don't want to spin off again, so be honest. We can fix it now, but probably not much later.)

"Or we could just leave" Tabitha suggested as she moved the ship away from the station. None of the angry mob after all were on the ship itself, as Tabitha only kept the doors open long enough for the crew to get back onboard.

She brought up the beacon map and set the drives for the coordinates of a nearby beacon leading ahead. She tried not to think about that heavy cargo lifter frame she wasn't going to return... Maybe it'll have some use in combat or boarding operations.

Think of that power suit from Alien(s). That's what Tabitha's got in the hold...
