again derk wakes up but this time in some type of med bay? derk feels hungry he looks around frantically for extra scrap absorbing the scrap he found he stands up and exits he walks around eventually finding a crew member (stylesrj this is your cue) engineer derk reporting for duty.*salutes*

Tabitha was in the middle of preparing when the Lanius walked in. "Arkangel, you've finally decided to see what I could..." she started before realising it wasn't the same Lanius. And it looked rather hungry. She could feel a sense of unease at the metallic being, like it was sizing her up for a meal which was weird considering how the other Lanius Arkangel didn't regard her the same way.
"There's no need to salute me... Derk, I'm probably the same rank as you are. I'm Ensign Tabitha Mia. Pilot and chef" she said "I won't shake hands, I've just washed them. Can you please stay away from the preparation area? I don't want any stray utensils going missing."

The cooking tools were made of metal however. A good, strong metal too.

Arkangel was resting on the ceiling when he suddenly woke up. He didn't know what made him wake up, but nonetheless he walked around the ship searching for the 'new arrival'. He checked the medbay only to see it empty. He must be hungry. I'll check the mess hall. When he went there, he saw Tabitha and another lanius. Oddly though, the low 02 lights weren't on. Strange... A lanius that doesn't deplete air? He then went up to greet the new crewmember.

derk hums a random tune as he works on the engine, yes the beautiful avionics mk5 engines capable of amazing flight maneuvers... he hasn't seen one of these since his first internship on the osprey
2.0(flight of the osprey cross over? i think not)so for a while derk tweaks with the setting minding his own business,when suddenly a hail comes through *federation ship(insert name here) this is the heavy carrier f.s.s overtaker (insert ship name here) do you copy? *derk jumps in surprise* a federation carrier capital ship all the way out here? well thats suprising...

(Nice stirring things up! However, I had planned for this to be a short bit for you to get integrated into the story. You know, meet the characters, show them your personality, so on and so forth. I'll keep the ship, though. This might be interesting!)

Quintet stopped any of his crew from replying to the hail and opened on-ship communications.
"I know you're all eager, especially Derk, but let me do the talking here. Thanks."
He replied to the hail.
"Hello! You've got a nice ship on your hands. How may we assist you?"
The ship opened live communication. Not wanting the ship to know he was an A.I. just yet, Quintet spoofed a human image with a ship background onto the live camera feed.
"Hello comerade! I hope you're having a better time than we are. We're in need of some scrap to patch up some of our damage with our shiny new repair arm, and we've got an extra.. what was it? An Ion cannon? I'll part with it for 45 scrap if you're up for a deal."
"One moment, please!" Quintet replied, quickly turning to his crew communications.
"Well, what do we have? I know what an Ion Cannon can do when used correctly, and it's fun only for the one not looking down its mystifying blue glow."

"An Ion Cannon?" Tabitha asked as she alerted the crew to the fact that the cooking was done and that food was prepared for everyone else. "That might prove useful breaking through shields. Do we have the power for it though?" she asked.

"It'll take a few upgrades, but better to have it now cheap than wait to pay the greater price."
Quintet contacted the ship.
"We'll take it! Hope things go better for you after this."
The ion cannon was transferred over to the ship through a warp and Quintet did the same, giving up 45 scrap.
"It'll stay in cargo until we upgrade the reactor and weapons, but it's better to have it cheap."

Targon screeched with excitement. "Oh, joy, an ION CANNON!!" He forgot about the food and promptly soared to the cargo, then stopped at the door. It opened for him and his eyes met-
"Huh?" This Ion Cannon was nothing like he'd seen. The outer shell was a dark glass, and through it he could see the shiny mechanics of the gun. Targon scratched his head. "I can't tell if it's a beam or a laser. I'll look into this later. I have to eat."
He patted the gun affectionately, then walked to the kitchen. "Mm, this smells good!" He said cheerfully to Tabitha as he looked at the contents of the food. "What is it?"

"Sounds like the ion cannon has taken off more than I thought" Tabitha remarked "I thought it was one of those things that fired a single ball of energy that could fry shields for a few seconds"
As she dug into her own meal, she said "It's something you'll enjoy. Using the fresh space whale meat, an FMRE and some Eldothian Wine, I've made a delicious roast."
And if the wine makes you drunk, the medbay isn't too far to sober up quickly... she thought to herself.
