I'd love to see your take on the separated-drone transporter! If you want, you can make the shields transporter too; you are welcome to work on whatever concepts you please from this thread.

I actually consider myself a bit, "retired", from FTL modding. I still love the game, the world, and its community, but I find myself either too busy or too drained of energy to work on my mods properly. This thread is, I suppose, what I would have done if I had the time for it--sort of like The Shipyard thread, but for the abandoned ruins of my ideas.

If you're wondering why I don't ask other modders to make my ideas instead of letting them sit around gathering dust, it's because I'd feel kind of bad asking someone else to do my own work. You are welcome to implement any of my ideas, of course, as long as it's your decision; really I just don't want to coerce anyone into it.

I took a brief look at the files, and I didn't see a blueprints.xml.append, only dlcBlueprintsOverwrite.xml.append, so I think that it might have been written to override Kestral C instead of Kestral A. I didn't get a good look though so maybe I'm wrong

Ahha.
No, sorry, it's a time-saving technique I've been using.

Basically, all the ship-writing stuff stays in Blueprints, while any custom weapons/augments/whatever go in Overwrite.
That way, I have a folder I can just drop into the .ftl file any time I edit the ship in Superluminal without having to re-open the xml files.


And I checked, the blueprint file's still there.
I usually only ever overwrite Kestral 'cuz it's the one ship everyone has.

Though I do like the idea of a secret, secret ship. May nick that...

Some more from the notes:

terminus missile battery (artillery) shoots a 4 damage missile every 24 seconds, boosted to 12 second cooldown at level 4
stealth missiles are 2 power, shoot one two-damage missile every 12 seconds
terminus lasers are 1 power, shoot one laser (strength not determined) every 12 seconds
(what I meant by "strength not determined" was that I was unsure of whether to make them single-damage, hull-smash, or heavy)
discounted artillery costs (40-40-40, so it's a 120 scrap missile weapon, basically)
make sure lineart is all #000000 color
study rebel ship sandwiched nacelles, try to improve the sandwiching on terminus. also include a bottom light-grey plate to match the top plates

so basically the Terminus (thats its name) would come with two stealth missiles and two terminus lasers, all with 12-sec charge times, to unleash a deadly (and fun!) volley of fire. and also, missiles are fun if you have enough to last, heh.

another idea I had was that instead of stealth missiles, the terminus would come with advanced swarm missile batteries: 12-second charge time with 3 charges, so 4 seconds to load 1 missile.

ahhhh, this is all making me want to get back to modding. Who knows...
