Luxanna Jensen thought Bren had suggested everyone not wander off and do their own thing. She gave herself a brief frown and then said cheerily "When in Rome..."
She headed off in another direction, hands close to her weapons. She was curious as to what that cannibal pirate meant by the Pelican. Last time she had heard of the ship was that the Federation purged it with radiation from bow to stern.
Are these survivors of the virus or did it fall victim to them?, she thought to herself. She also kept an eye out for anything that looked like a place where bounties would be collected by hunters of such things. She had trouble thinking of the words.
"I'm hungry" she commented, walking past a Mantis operating what appeared to be the equivalent of a food truck shouted out to her "Hey you! Meatsack! If you're hungry, you'll love what I'm offering you!"
Lux laughed "I don't think I'm in the market for Human flesh... in fact what makes you think I'd be a customer?"
"Because Humans are one of my top customers?" the insect chittered in laughter.

Lux went to turn away when the cannibal pirate from earlier approached the stand. "Charlie, my Man...tis! The usual" he looked to Lux "Are you still interested in wanting to know more about the Pelican?"
The doctor sighed "Go ahead".
The cannibal continued as he picked up two wrapped bundles of cooked Human fingers. "When the Gift came to the Pelican, a radical change happened amongst the crew."
"You went crazy and started tearing each other apart!" Lux shouted. "You call that a gift?"
"That's because we didn't understand what the Gift was"
Lux shook her head. The smell of cooked Human flesh wafted into her nose and she was... trying not to feel enticed by the aroma.
"Smells good doesn't it?" the pirate asked, seeing her look at one of the bundles.
"No it doesn't. It's disgusting and I don't think I should be anywhere near you" Lux said "Dad said not to talk to strange cannibalistic pirates."
The pirate laughed "How oddly specific... but only because he knew that he wasn't cured of The Gift. It was just suppressed."

Lux stopped in her tracks in shock "Suppressed? You mean?"
"If there truly was a "cure", it wouldn't be found on a Federation starship doctor's medbay" the pirate laughed "You have The Gift, Luxanna"
He suggested that Lux take the Slugs in the airlock to the Mantis Charlies food truck. The proprietor would pay a lot of money for Slug meat and it was also be where the Pelican Pirates would be waiting. "Including our Captain. She would be delighted to meet you" the pirate said. "Oh and call me Morgan. Bosun Morgan"

He handed Lux one of the bundles and walked away laughing, leaving the young doctor both confused... and still hungry. She checked her commlink with the crew "Guys... I think I found a buyer of our bounties... and also some crazy person who wants me to meet their Captain..."

Just to clarify: Luxs father served on the Pelican. It got infected with "The Gift". Apparently, your father contracted and repressed the disease, but it was passed on to you. Right? Interesting...

Lux had told Jake and Kyrie about how she played hide & seek and ended up on the shuttle that went to the Pelican with her father. They got infected because the virus was inside the life support systems and they were qurantined for a few weeks until Lux's mother cured them... or so they thought.

"It was your father?" Said WOL. An uncomfortable silence filled the room. "Thank you for the talk." Said WOL before leaving the room.

WOL was tired of being negative. He'd been reflecting on himself for the past while, and realized how selfish he'd been. For most of this journey, he'd either been depressed, angry, or generally just isolated from the rest of the crew. He wasn't the only one to experience loss, the others had their own scars, and they weren't ashamed to bear it. WOL felt guilty, he was the only one to hide his. He had only told them half of the truth, that he was formerly part of a research vessel, but had decided to enlist in the program, but he never told them what happened to the vessel, or why he wanted to join.

He remembered a promise he had made, to never look back. He hadn't been doing good on his end, he needed to change that. He swore a personal vow, that starting from now, he would leave the past in the past, and would focus more towards the future, and he infinite paths that it held.

To say that WOL was overjoyed is an understatement. The crew hadn't seen WOL that jovial since, well, forever. He pored over every the new technology that the ship possessed, it was CENTURIES ahead of what the Current age possessed. Once he arrived at the engine room, he was intrigued about the addition of this new "Temporal Drive". Although he currently had no understanding of this new technology, he made it his personal goal to repair it.

Once the tour was finished, their next course was planned, they were off to the station that Bren suggested. WOL remained within the new ship to assist Jake, and to get accustomed to the new controls. After a brief scuff with a rock, and mantis ship, WOL and the others docked at the station. They wanted to explore the station for a while, and agreed to meet up at a later date.

WOL walked around the station, not much had caught his eye. Being an engi, he wasn't able to experience many of the carnal delights available to other more organic species. He was prepared to turn around and wait, until a voice called out. "YOU THERE." Said a voice from the side. He turned to look, and saw another engi standing next to a large metal booth. "YOUR CASH, MINE. MY UPGRADES, FOR YOU." Said the engi in a robotic tone. "What kind of upgrades?" Asked WOL, "UNIT UPGRADE." responded the engi.

WOL thought back, and remembered about unit upgrades. Engi's were unique, in the sense that they were more customisable than other species. Engi's didn't evolve over time like most races, instead, they have the ability to reprogram and improve the trillions of nanobots that make
up their composition. In theory, this means that engi's could essentially turn themselves into a glorious master race, however, engi's do not wish to become so, and wish to coexist with other races. For the sake of preserving peace, they regulate this feature, and punish any un-authorized upgrades.

WOL had never had a unit upgrades, mainly because the damn things were bloody expensive. WOL was intrigued. "How much?" He inquired. "100,000 CREDITS. NON NEGOTIABLE." responded the engi. WOL only had 5000 Credits in his Credits card. "I don't have that much" said WOL. The engi considered this "ARE YOU WITH THE FEDERATION?" Asked the engi. Well, technically he was only a cadet, but since the federation gave them this mission, I guess he was.

"Yes" responded WOL, with clear resolve. "THAN I WILL UPGRADE YOU FOR FREE." Said the engi. "Really?! Aren't you going to ask for identification?" Asked WOL somewhat shocked. "I DO NOT DETECT ANY LIES IN YOUR STATEMENT" Said the engi, "I ALSO DON'T GET MANY CUSTOMERS" He added on, before giving a shrug. WOL was hesitant, but also excited. What he was doing was illegal, but he had never done this before. "HERE ARE SOME FEATURES INCLUDED IN THE NEW UPDATE" said the engi, pulling up a preview on a monitor.
Pay attention, this is important.

Improved frame(More damage resistance, More adaptability, Quicker, Default form is slimmer, and more human like)

WOL was amazed. He could gain all that? And for free?! WOL was sold. "I wish to take this procedure" said WOL to the engi. "VERY WELL THEN, PROCEED INTO THE BOOTH, AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS" said the engi. WOL stepped into the booth, in the middle, there was a device that resembled an escape shuttle. "HELLO." Rang out a voice, it was the engi. "IF YOU ARE HEARING THIS, PLEASE ENTER THE DEVICE." WOL followed his instructions. The doors to the device slid shut. "THE PROCEDURE WILL NOW BEGIN, I WILL ADMINISTER AN AGENT THAT WILL RENDER YOU UNCONSCIOUS DURING THE PROCEDURE." Announced the engi. Suddenly, a robotic hand holding a syringe shot out of the device, and stabbed WOL without warning. WOL couldn't even register what happened before passing out.

Suddenly, he was awake again. He was still for a few moments, trying to remember what happened. Suddenly, a voice rang out of the intercom again "THE PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE, YOU MAY NOW EXIT THE BOOTH" Said the engi. The doors to the device opened, and WOL stepped out. He noticed a change within him. He felt better, more improved, his Perception seemed to have been magnified ten fold. He tried walking around, it felt so familiar, yet so different.

He thanked the engi for the procedure. The engi shrugged it off "IT WAS NO PROBLEM AT ALL, I BID YOU FAREWELL" He concluded. WOL was wandering again, this time with a new confidence. This was the greatest he'd ever felt in his life.

You never know with people like this. Inform me of your decision before doing ANYTHING- this is a dangerous place. And under no circumstances are you authorized to proceed without me, or someone else. Copy?"
