CE update 1.055 will bring new guns once again. Some ideas already implemented in other mods will be reused and integrated into CE, mainly cluster bombs and teleported repair devices. Fuse and impact graphics will be used to make this stuff graphically more interesting. Repairs bombs convey their function quite nice: they don't explode, but do the green light thing that the hull repair drone does instead. I also mashed up a few vanilla sound effects to create better fitting launch sounds for the new guns. Ion weapons and lasers fell behind a little, so they get some new stuff as well.

One new concept involves missile based weapons that deal damage only to hull. Mine launchers where planed to play that role, but I'm not so satisfied with their sprites yet. I still want to salvage that idea, but I'm looking for another way to make the weapons appear distinct and graphically appealing, so maybe I'll change what it is supposed to be altogether. Other ideas involved making it a kind of torpedo, a kind of air burst missiles or super small swarm missiles. All not really doable with how FTL handles projectiles and impacts. Let's see where it goes.

1.055 will also integrate some of the changes the sM Polish Kit made directly into CE. This mod improves the vanilla game in a lot of ways, with often small but very effective changes.

Some new events (generic distress variety) are also on my to do list, as well as some more vanilla event modifications. Some long planed features like the sector specific loot lists and the ships with encased systems might finally see the light of day as well.

More weapons!?!?! :o I haven't even had a chance to play the recent update and you're still making even more awesome stuff!

The ion burst variant looks way awesome. Like, super-extra cooler. And the little wrenches on the repair bombs are cute too.

It's a stupid idea, but maybe a bomb attached to a rocket would look distinctive?

That's the one time where this is actually intended. It's a repair ship that is crewed only by small teams of Engi-engineers, as the drones do most of the work. It's rudimentary medical unit can only disperse nano med-bots into the ship to heal the crew. Proper medbays are not available on these ships.

when i attacked it though, it didn't have any engi med bots augmentation that time, is the chance of having it random?

Did you play on easy? It might get removed on easy, like zoltan shields...

I checked again, it definitely has nanobots assigned. AI might have had powered down the medbay? I'll look into it...

I have possible bug report. To be honest I'm not sure if this is CE fault or Vanilla issue - I was playing Vanilla only few games and then started to play CE and I cannot differentiate Vanilla events from CE events :D

Event is about planet where riots started because some people wanted to join rebels. I had Laser gun and had blue option to fire Laser on rioters. Then Militia Infiltrator showed up. The issue is that Militia Infiltrator had only one crew member and no oxygen at all in all ship (I had upgraded sensors so I could see everything). After few seconds that single crew member simply suffocated and I won battle without doing anything.
Unfortunately I didn't make any screenshots. This happened to fast ;)

BTW: I just love this mod :D

The image clearly states that the medbay is powered up. It's quite visible.
