The AMD Drivers ain't the problem, probably. I have an Intel one so..

Btw, also tested with Standard CE with EL Standard 0.97 too. Still having problem.

Also, I "finish" the loading bar, then crash with a Runtime error.

Sounds a lot like it is related to the game caching the images. Loading EL 0.97 slowed down the whole loading process a lot for me (its about a minute for me now). When the load is finished then the game music kicks in way before I actually get to the title screen. Going to the hangar and spawning enemies at the first beacons also has the game freeze for a few seconds while loading in the images. That normalizes eventually after a few jumps. I'm no expert on this but it looks a lot like the game as strained to some degree by the amount of images it has to have ready.

Any chance someone with the EL0.97 failures can try out (2) and report the outcome (hopefully with a crash screenshot, if there was a crash).

I tried it with version 1.204(that was the version I had before I updated) and it still gets the same error with EL 0.97

EDIT: 3 points for the smartphone pic of the failure

using 1.206 instead of 1.207 gives a exactly the same error with EL 0.97

Maybe you can also post your specs, so we can help rannl & sleeper this way to narrow down, what's causing the problem or who is affected.
