Starting off is a breeze, all I do is invade ships throughout the game, the only problem is coming across weapons to knock down Zoltan shields and attack the Rebel-AI ships.
Both which are pretty uncommon to come across.
You don't need to doge with superior shields to weapon fire, and a defense drone taking out missiles(hardly will take any enemy fire throughout the game)

A trick to taking down med bays(when you can't find any weapons to spend your godly scraps on) is to teleport into a room like Shields/weapons and then 2 to the med bay to rip it apart then hurry back to help the other 2.
You can also send in your Boarding Drone(which the ship also gives you) for more chaos.

Zoltan B. Rush that 100 scrap to get your first shield and then you're set for the rest of the game. Its default weapons are incredible and the Zoltan Shield makes up for the lack of drones. Who needs extra scrap from boarding when you have so much extra power to throw around, and you never need to actually buy any weapons? The only problem it has is vulnerability to anti-ship/beam drones early game (but with a little luck, it can knock out drone systems before taking critical damage, so even that isn't hopeless).

Though it does need some help on the first phase of the flagship, since the Ions aren't enough to get through the shield before it cloaks. Any kind of bomb or missile is enough to handle that though.

Rock B. 4 Rock crewmen, Rock plating, Heavy Pierce laser and firebomb. What's not to like?

Rock B (Shivan). Fire bomb weapons room -> Teleport rock crew there -> gg, Rebels

This ship is a guaranteed boring victory (except for the 1st run with it, which is pretty fun).

Crystal B.

Boarding crew of Crystals, high hit points and resistance to no oxygen:

Enemy have powerfull weapons?
Board their weapon room, use the ability of your THREE boarders to block all exits (one after another when the previous power is running out). No one in or out, use cloak to avoid their only attack before all weapons are gone.

Enemy is drone?
Board away, the crystals have high hit points and resistance to oxygen deprivation.

Enemy with med bay?
Board and block the room, no more medbay.

Enemy with powerful shields?
Board shield room, block shield room. End of fight.

The problem is of course, no weapons at start which can be a bother.
