Have you ever gotten dev support in any way?

I got invited to the AE beta about a month before the release, in order to prepare CE for the launch.

I'm not sure if this has already been reported, but I recently was playing as the Vortex (no crew, AI controlled) and I tried to recruit the "raving madman" at a distress beacon. However, when I clicked the command, the game froze and I had to close it. I'm playing CE Infinite with AE and the sMPK mod (with compatibility patch).
Just thought I'd let you know!
Oh, and I also receive random crashes occasionally when fighting ships that close the game immediately when I am about to destroy an enemy ship.

So, I find this mod, install it, and what do I find?
Holy Hell, there's alot of grammatical problems, typos, and outright textual errors in this. Nearly 1/5 of all of the events have some kind of major grammatical or spelling error in it.
Someone please help edit the events.xml so that it doesn't look like total crap.
Edit:
Holy shit, I just fixed near 100 of them in 5 minutes by CTRL+H'ing them in Notepad++. There's also over 3000 matches for possible *you_noun* errors. No way in Hell I'm sifting through all of that. Grammatical corrections is going to be an entire modding project, in of itself, and take the better part of a few days, at least.

Grammatical errors are a known issue, friend. Sleepy has spent countless hours building CE, and did an excellent job for someone who is not from an English speaking country. Keeping that in mind, he consistently tries to fix typos every release.commode7x wrote:So, I find this mod, install it, and what do I find?

If you have an issue to report please do the following:
1. Check previous thread posts in order to make sure that the issue you are reporting has not been discussed before.
2. Post the issue using civil language and tones. It's not like any errors you find are placed there to annoy you specifically, commode7x.
Enjoy the mod and keep on FTLing

You say that as if I didn't search through the previous thread posts on the issue. There's three pages of people talking about the issue, if you didn't bother to do the search yourself.rannl wrote:

The central issue in this is the fact that someone hasn't gone and done the editing to fix the problem since the mod was compiled, despite it being talked about since last year.
I'm certainly not volunteering for that job.
Probably.

@commode7x
Do your research better.
As you can see, someone has gone and done the editing to fix the problem. But CE is constantly growing, and new events get added.
If you're annoyed by typos and grammatical errors, volunteer to help with editing.
Just a friendly reminder -- while this mod receives a considerable amount of support from the community, it's still basically ran by a single person. Who's doing this in their free time, for free. For almost a year, non-stop.
Drop the entitled tone and have a little respect, is all I'm saying.

Yep, two people spell checked the entire mod already. But there is always new text that remains a little edgy at first and there is simply a limit of what I can recognize as mistakes myself. If this bothers you so much then no one forces you to play the mod.
Are you a native English speaker then? If so then you are ridiculously smug about knowing your mother tongue so well. If not, you still appear like you are just here to rant. Maybe write me a few thousand lines of dialog in your second language, so I can go through it and call it crap. Would you enjoy this? I certainly don't when you do it. I find it pretty mean spirited and it is also not constructive at all.

Dude, if you really fix it then why not act like not an arse and give the file to creator? Don't act like smart ass here.

Funnily enough, English is my second language, and I think I'd have an easier time writing in it than I would with Croatian, which is supposed to be my first ('mother', as you put it) language. Then again, I did grow up with both languages... Anyway, I agree that that post of his was rude.
