Yeah this fleets-as-planets thing is kind if neat and I wanted to make more use of it when it fits somewhere. This whole homeworld/controlled differentiation thing is not a high priority though.

Background images can only be set once for a certain beacon, during the first time you travel there. But yes, as long as you fight the flagship at a beacon where you have not been before, this would be possible.

I pretty sure it does, but I think it also resets the flagships hit points. I still do this sometimes if a fight goes exceptionally bad, also in later phases. Sometimes this lead to unexpected comebacks. :)

So I guess it is possible to create fleets using planets. :) Neat. If you ever do that it would be freaking awesome when you stumble upon them in game.

Yeah but lets not overuse it. I did this fleet image in the Mantis event out of a whim, to mark this as an exceptional event. In general I want to use that technique very selectively. Not everything has to be shown directly, I believe the imagination of the people reading through the events can often produce better images then the fixed ones I can provide. Vanilla FTL could have done much more visually, but It looks like the defs favored event texts to describe situations instead of visuals. I'd rather go with that most of the time, unless something really exceptional is going on.

About that mantis boarding fleet event: it seems that deep space entry beacons in CEi can call events other than the waiting menu. I had such event be the mantis boarding fleet, but since it was mid-event, the mantis fleet bacgkround (planet texture) didn't show up. So you've gotta be more selevtive about what events to include in the entry beacon's list, if any.

That's intended. I wanted that event as one of the many boss-like scenario there. You will just have to imagine that fleet. :) I will have another look at these event texts.

Ok so this is the last time going to ask this... I've said before that my Laptop runs CE fine along with Better Planets and Backgrounds, but when using CE & BPAB on my desktop it crashed the game on the main menu. :? I have no idea what could cause such a thing. Today I even tried to implement BPaB into the CE files "manually" and changed all the files to .append rather than clobbering ones. Same thing.

The only potential reason I can think of for that to happen is a corruption or failure of the game itself, slipstream, BPAB, or CE on my desktop. Is that a possibility? Other than that I have no clue. Because CE does nothing that would affect BPAB and vice versa.

So do I, although it is possible that the game itself could have some error, maybe from faulty previous mod installs. Try reinstalling FTL itself then? There where some other people who had the same problem, but I really have no idea what could cause this...

Is there a chance of putting up an external guide on the stats and events you've put up? I'm interested to see the whole crew appeal thing, because I find it an interesting concept, even if my Slug manages to put down any mutiny. And after going through a lot of weapons, I feel like I may have missed a Blue event on something that only happens once every hundred beacons.

Ok, so I redownloaded EVERYTHING including the game itself and Slipstream. BPAB 1.3.1 still doesn't work with CE, BUT just for the heck of it I downloaded BPAB v1.2.1 and that did work. :D So no Hubble Backgrounds, but at least I got something to work.

I also tried running the game in windowed mode and the farthest I was able to get was BPAB 1.3 not crashing at the main menu, but instead crashing after hitting START.

So it seems like "something" added between BPAB version 1.2.1 and 1.3.1 is the culprit. With that information do you have any idea what the problem could be?

I prefer to spoil as little as possible here. Also, this would be quite a lot of work.

More info on Captain's Editions content as a whole is asked for now and then, also on redit. I won't stop anyone from making a wiki or something, but I won't do it myself.

Nope. Maybe ask its creator? I never had any problems with it so I never looked at it more closely. I did not notice anything special about it other that it does not append.
