I may have come up with the name for the game :)
Tachyon multiplayer
or
T.M.P.
8-) See what I did there?

Edit:
Dang, there are already a couple of games with Tachyon in their name. :(

Great way to keep "Faster than light" somewhat in the name. I not the greatest fan of the multiplayer part of the name, but I cannot come up with anything better. :D What ever the name, we will probably grow on to it as a community.

I'll probably try to play a bit with other parts of the name but I think "Tachyon" will stay :)
Also, as always, any suggestions are welcome:)

Too many cooks in the kitchen, I think.

Not really.
All ideas and suggestions are welcome.
But that doesn't mean that all of them will go to the soup. :)
We're having like a brainstorm, and from all ideas and suggestions I pick out the ones that I really see fit and imagine them to be not to hard to implement.
But I'd really love to see some more quests/stories.
Like the one you had - with starting at a broken station and having to fix up the ship first.

Well, I don't really know anything about the algorithm, but he is my best guess

The doors check the difference between the oxygen level of the two rooms when open. The fill/depletion rate between rooms is probably liner. The door handles the change of oxygen. Airlocks treat the outside like a 0% oxygen room.
Hull holes probably act much like open airlocks too.

Hopefully someone shares the algorithm. :D

Not quite true: an open door that goes directly into space instantly drains the room no matter how much air was in it before.
The other doors take time and so do hull breaches. Not sure how much time though.

Fun fact: If you upgrade your Life Support system in FTL beyond normal levels (level 4-6) then you can counter the outside drain. However, because the open doors always drain the room of air, you'll be hearing a constant hissing noise as the game replenishes and drains the air rapidly. So don't actually power Life Support beyond 3 bars.
