Question: How would one go about re-routing where the game accesses the .sav file?

It's not possible but it may be added as an option in a future patch. It has been requested before.

This just doesn't work for me. I got the save, I followed the Windows instructions, but it's as if I never replaced the save. It just loads all my old crap. Please, help!

Steam Cloud Sync got added a while back, and I know initially the syncing between operating systems did not work automatically.

I'm trying to sync between Windows and Mac, am I just not doing something right, or is this game still ignorant of sync between different operating systems almost a year later?

Steam does not treat all games equally, it's just not possible or convenient. Some games can be rolled back to previous versions, some cannot etc. Maybe Steam sync doesnt work for FTL or is intermittent/buggy. You could try syncing yourself using dropbox or similar.

i want tried following the instructions and i found my library but there is no FTL folder in it at all. i DL the game and i have been playing it on my Mac. the game and shortcut are on my desktop but i havent been able to locate any data file for it. what am i missing here?

by adding a single character to step 6 you can skip step 5 completely.

Actually you can merge 3, 5, and 6 into one command and step 4 would then be the last one

Played on my windows computer for a bit, then installed on my linux computer. Settings did not transfer. Is there something I need to do enable cloud sync?

Edit: I am having some issues with Steam updating on Linux. It could be related to that. The steam updater downloads and says I don't have enough disk space even though I have 133GB

The steam cloud support is limited to the same OS that the save file came from.
