Here's an update:
I finished the graphics over the weekend but ran into a problem that I only figured out today. Apparently all the image file names are lowercase - except for one. When I replaced it with a lowercase file, the graphics got mixed up and I suspected driver problems and what not. Anyway, all fixed now. Besides replacing all old backgrounds, there are an additional new backgrounds and one planet.
I'm uploading the file right now and updating the original post. Thanks for waiting.
Update of the update: The mod is online.

Got a event, alternative text, or maybe a new sector? Add it to the Additional Events & Texts (AET) mod! Credits will be given, and you will help make a big pack of content!
