Just think... if you hadn't had long range sensors you wouldn't have avoided the asteroid field, and would probably have survived.

Tipps to survive:
.Hold the map in the right way round
.Dont drink coffee while reading the map, maybe you will destroy it after a hit on the hull
.Dont drink alcohol and try to understand the map
.And never, never ever eat the map, maybe it will kill you.

I'm usually very careful when pathing through sectors. I get a general idea of where I want to go first, and try to take the more clustered path. Also it helps that I never get long range sensors to path around things like asteroid fields-though I hate going into a storm in nebulas without the heads up.
