Are you using the Steam version of FTL? We just released a patch that probably won't directly help with the crashes, but if you turn on V-Sync and/or the Frame Limiter from the options then it might reduce the frequency of the crashes.

Given the frequency of the crashes and apparently randomness of the cause according to the logs, it might be worth it to check your RAM / hard drive for any potential errors. This link from GOG.com gives some instructions for doing so:

http://www.gog.com/en/support/faster_th ... for_errors

That's a long shot though, so I'll look definitely be looking into the crashes in further detail and let you know if I find anything. Keep me updated if anything changes for you.

thanks for looking into it will play some more today with the f-sync and frame limiter on and let you know.

ever since the patch, and turning of the v-sync and frame limiter the crash problem has gone away. could be co-incidence, but I actually think it fixed the issue. I have played about 3 hours with no crash. up until this point my record was about 30 mins without a crash, and typically it was much more frequent than that.. like about every 5 mins. so I am pleased so far. will let you know if the problem returns.
