Your issue was that the writer of drone images (Sleeper) assumed you worked on weapons previously, and assumed a given reader would be sufficiently intelligent to reverse engineer his instructions;

Generally, drone sprites are relatively easy to make and edit, as combat drones just use this four different sprites and don't even need animation sheets in animations.append.xml

Of course, this was a faulty assumption; even after building a half-dozen custom weapons it took me two tries to get an acceptably working defense drone.

Yea ^^; turned out my weapon knowledge is out dated...

I didn't know how to reverse engineer other drones, (apparently it wasn't in the xml.append, it was just xml ^^; )
I am smarter though and made quite a few drones already.

I don't have issues with defense drones and I only needed 2 attempts to make a half decent one (Attempt 2 is actually just one that moved faster, just so they can spread out more)

Anywho, so race stats are hardcoded right?
you can't replace races right?
and you can only retexture and rename races right?

And FTL: Overdrive will remove the hardcoding **** right?

I just want to ask a question, not about modding, or advice.

But what new races do you think would appear if people can mod there own races?

I see no point in speculating. If Overdrive arrives, we'll see what new races will show up. If not, there will be no races.

So although we can't create new races I am interested in hearing people's idea for new races because I am not creative enough to come up with new ones. Honestly the main FTl races are pretty unique and diverse which makes coming up with new ideas difficult.

One idea I heard was a race of plant people. That could be very unique an I though was the only possible addition at first.

The Lanius that are being introduced in the AE are very unique. They're made of metal and can suck oxygen out of rooms it seems. Their announcement made me rethink my assumption that few new races could be added to the mix.

Apparently there are more possibilities for other races. What would you all like to see??
