Most stations are from Captain's Edition. Except for the Crystal station which was made by R4V3-0N. I only recoloured some stations to produce a type B, like the Crystal B, the old Engi B, Mantis B and that black AI station.

I do use splicing when I make custom ships though.

I don't know if you noticed but the slug station has some weird shield like the drawing doesn't match the actual hitbox.
Also the laser is pointing upwards but shooting sideways.
I don't want to bother you with all of these but i just thought I should tell you in case you didn't know

I tried so damn hard to fix that shitty shield bug but i just can't seem to get the vertical hitbox to not be so damn tall (horizontal is fine), and that's only because I have no idea what decides the size of the actual hitbox.

The hitbox is determined by the shield image canvas size. When you look at the Slug (or Mantis, Lanius, Federation, Pirate) shield images then you'll see that the shield "drawing" size does not match the canvas size. The canvas is either vertically or horizontally longer than the shield bubble.

For the shield to match the hitbox, the shield bubble drawing needs to reach/touch the canvas edges.

I hope this made it clear.

I thought that was the case too, until i tried it and it still didn't work.

Now, hoping that shield size is for some reason based on the ship's hull, I'm just thinking about increasing the height of the shield drawing and see if the hitbox grows with it as well and if it doesn't then just do it by eye until it fits.
If it does grow with it then I'm pretty much shit outta luck there and hope I did some stupid mistake which caused all of this.

It is worth noting that at first when i saw the hitbox was screwed it was larger horizontally NOT vertically BUT the actual shield image's canvas was only stretched vertically more than it should which was weird because when I fixed the canvas issue the hitbox experienced vertical problems instead. :?: :?: :?:

Either that or i just have like the worst eyesight in the world :mrgreen:. One of those two.

In case anyone is wondering I'm using Paint.NET for this so if it is known to have problems with this kinda stuff then please inform because otherwise this conversation is just useless.

just wanna say the ai station is pretty small thus deffence drones will be much more efficient on it- you could have 1 of the 3 layouts with a drone.

I'm using Paint.NET as well, so no problem there, but I forgot that you have to change the slug_station.txt file as well...

So, after you fix the shield image, open the station in superluminal, rechoose the shield image for it and save it. Then replace the old .txt file with the new one and it should work.

The ellipse size can be edited manually in the .txt as well, but I haven't tried that.

EDIT: Ooh, So the .txt file basically determines the hitbox not the image :roll:

Yes and because repairs take longer on crewless stations, avoiding damage is essential.
Some slug gel or holographic crew will also be necessary on the station to handle possible breaches.
