Yeah but it's not something I could just leave open, and if too many people start using voice, it'll make people who can't/don't want to speak leave or not say anything. the IRC is something you can just leave open where as something with a lot of features can become quite a pain to leave open.

Same goes for Discord, it's made with gaming in mind, so it's very lightweight, I use it all the time. Voice channels are optional -- you don't have to join them if you don't want to (you don't get thrown into voice chat the moment you join), and you can mute sound globally, or each user individually.
*shrug* Obviously, use whatever you prefer in the end, I just figured I'd link it, since my experience with it has been extremely positive.

Hey, change of things~

The IRC is now on the Freenode network instead of gamesurge as freenode will allow us to register the name and then we'll always have people able to view the irc~

this'll provide chat for us and a way to get some new players~

There is now a bot forwarding all global and private messages from the game to IRC and back. To send a private message, send "<User> <Message>" to the bot (replace "<User>" and "<Message>"). To execute a command, send it in the IRC channel and replace the first "/" with "!".

Guys, never go down 2 sectors from spawn, there are metric crapton of AI's.
I got killed on first jump becaurse of them.

EDIT : There was 9 pirates

Spektor, can you add support for text like "ありがとうございます!" Because I wanna host a server for some of my friends/family and it'd be a lot easier for them to speak and understand some things if we had support for japanese

You could span free newbie ships and just destroy onther players' BS, or stations.

So why not find some way to make it so the basic ships don't do much ramming damage or make it not worthwhile.
Maybe some sort of system that you need to buy that adds a ramming prow to the vessel?
