Well it was still damaged. The runabout was speeding back at high speeds with Jake inside. She reported to Bren and company that Jake had been secured from the Mutare and would be getting medical treatment shortly.
"At least that wasn't damaged in the sweep" Eden remarked as her crew continued their work getting things fixed.

Over with Bren he had made his jump and was at the exit beacon of this sector, breathing a sigh of relief as the repair drones did their work

"Man can't believe we survived' he said

"I can't believe our luck" Gorlag said

"...what I want to know is why the metal eaters were surrendering, back in my day they were mindless monsters" Ruwen said

As if on cue a warp came in, "Oh it must be the oth...ers..." he said slowly when he saw what came in....5 of the remaining "fleet'

"Oh shit" he said, his weapons were off line, the damage from the one shot and the blackhole kept him from firing it again, lest he overheated it and started another fire, and the crystal launcher, well that won't help much against them..."

"I....think I'm boned" he said

"I'm boneless...but your right' Gorlag said

There was a com request and Bren answered...it was a Metal eater on screen...

"Sur End Er" it spoke, it was low, robotic, almost souless

"I...don't want to die' Bren said

The Metal eater looked around, confused, as if Bren said something off

It looked to the others, and they spoke to one another in their own language

The other one came back, and it pressed some keys on its own "keyboard" and it sent a video, the same white flags

"Wait...you want to surrender?" he asked Bren's eyes widened, "Wait no I wasn't with them, they were my enemy as well. You were just caught in our war" he said

The others began to speak to one another again as if in deliberation

"I Sur End Er you Sur End Er?"

"Yes we won't fight" Bren said, Ruwen stepped up, the Metal Eaters were taken aback, literally they stepped back, almost afraid, but then it spoke in the language of the crystal

"Creator!"

Ruwen looked at Bren in confusion, "Creator?"

(Yeah taking a page from Mass Effect, plot twist in this universe, the war of the Lanius and the Crystals...it was a coverup of eliminating a species they created to manipulate metal, but it worked too well, they became a plague in the eyes of the Crystal Council, the Lanius still remember their creators and wish to return, but every time they've tried the crystals now told they were at war with them and what nation they had would always attack first never contacting them. This is the first time they had a chance to speak to a Crystal since they went back to there own home space....if you don't like this...well I can rewrite)

Jake abruptly awoke and tore the suffocating mask from his face, breathing heavily. He looked around frantically, but soon calmed down when he saw it was only Lux and Kyrie kneeling over him.

"The Mature..." He stammered between breaths. "Heavily damaged... All the oxygen has been drained... The hull is in the red zone... Everything is offline... Sarah..."

He would thank them for saving his life later. For now, he had to save his ship, and in doing so save Sarah.

“Jake, the Mutare is fine! There’s no danger to it anymore. You need to get to a medbay, first.” As Kyrie said this, the shuttle docked with the Pelican. “Can you walk? It’s not that far.”

"Ok..." Jake said. "Yeah, I can walk," Jake groggily shuffled to the medbay, leaning heavily on Kyrie for support. His eyes were shut due to light sensitivity, and there was a ringing in his ears. He own thoughts were garbled and disorganized.

The medbay diagnosed him with a mild concussion, but Jakes senses - like the Mature - were critically offline. The ringing in his ears made the voices around him mere distant echoes. The blinding light forced his eyes to shut. But within minutes, the medbay had repaired most of the damage, and Jake was back in the game.

Lux gave Jake the clean bill of health... as best a clean bill of health was out in space. "I got worried about you when I saw the damages..." she said cheerily, giving him a hug "But I'm glad you're all better."
Eden had already sent her crews to the Mutare to assess and try and patch up the damage to the ship. Although it probably couldn't be done with the same materials used for the hull.
"I could really use that repair drone Bren's ship has but he's already moved on ahead..." she said as much to the others.
"And you're not going to jump without the Mutare leading the way?" Lux asked.
"Better the Mutare goes ahead and gets itself shot up than my old girl..." Eden commented "Or it shoots all the threats before I even get there."

Lux looked to Jake "Should we see if Sarah is alright? I know you had a special bond with her these past few weeks"

"Special... bond? No, not really... She's just one of my crew, and I'm her captain. So yeah, I do care for her safety. But nothing... special." Jake stammered. "Yeah. Her functions are tied in with the helm. She can "inhabit" any system with its own computer, but when all computers on the ship go offline, she has nowhere to run her program. But the supercomputer at the helm is best for her needs, so if we want to bring her online I recommend we start there.

(think she might have jumped into one of my Drones before she went offline? Just a thought I do have a spare drone LOL)

Lux rolled her eyes. "Well get yourself a multitool and let's get cracking that supercomputer; if we can. I mean it's not exactly medical equipment and even if it was, it's magnitudes more advanced than our own..." she said "Besides, we're going to need some helm control back on your ship if it's to be moving again."
The Pelican's crew seemed to be hard at work repairing everything else at least to operational status and patching the holes in the hull. Eden was coordinating efforts from the helm of the Pelican though so she of course wasn't present on the Mutare.

“I’ve repaired the shields system on the Mutare before, but it took a while to figure it out. I’m guessing the helm will be worse if it’s a supercomputer.” They turned the shuttle around and went back to the Mutare, which was already being worked on by the Pelican’s crew. “I hope you guys know something about futuristic systems, or this’ll take our whole lives.”
