You could try emailing the devs directly, they're usually very helpful. Just explain exactly what you are doing. They're nice guys.Zandorum wrote:It doesn't have the algorithm.dalolorn wrote:Have you tried the wiki?Zandorum wrote:If anyone has any information on this I really need it.

Re: Air Systems [DEV Please Look]
I will try it but we made a temporary version of the air system that is very close, until then we wont have 1:1 air system but a very close one that in the end might not be too noticeable. I will still keep trying for it. Me or my friend will make a topic soon about the clone. We currently don't have too much done right now but we are 100% sure we can finish this, the only problem we have had and feel like we will have is the air system. When the topic is made we will have something to show for it.Russian Rockman wrote:You could try emailing the devs directly, they're usually very helpful. Just explain exactly what you are doing. Also, I think you should REALLY talk to Vhati. He's the creator of Slipstream mod manager and was working on Overdrive which attempted to remake FTL in a more mod friendly way. I think he might be able to help you out.Zandorum wrote: I will try it but we made a temporary version of the air system that is very close, until then we wont have 1:1 air system but a very close one that in the end might not be too noticeable. Thanks everyone, Ill message the Devs; If a moderator could lock this topic its no longer needed.

If at every step, you're one question away from quitting, you can't honestly be certain of completing it.
By all means, continue. And good luck.
But focus on detailing what you've done so far, rather than hyping what you might do.Zandorum wrote:Me or my friend will make a topic soon about the clone. [...] When the topic is made we will have something to show for it.
As to your current question...
One thing you can do is use the saved game editor to dump and compare the state of the game from moment to moment, including oxygen levels in each room.
Returning to the main menu will save, so you can copy "continue.sav", resume, and save again fairly quickly.

Re: Air Systems [DEV Please Look]
I'm currently doing the Air Systems to as close as possible but I hope eventually I can get it 1:1, Reason being that I want this to be an evolution in FTL Modding and not a devolution in any aspect. I will admit I'm a stickler for quality and I don't want it to not match exactly so I will try my hardest to get it as close as possible. As a note this wont be a Might be, because the only thing that hasn't been planned out was Air Systems other than that everything is planned and we know how its going to be done already; I'm not trying to hype this up alot but I'd like people to know it exists. The reason I even posted on the forums is because I know Its able to be done and that we have enough content in our current version to be sure that we can do it; I don't want to get the forums hopes up again and then dash them.Vhati wrote:-snip-

Well... Daydream with me... And tell me what you hope to make possible with this FTL Clone that isn't possible right now?Zandorum wrote:I'm currently doing the Air Systems to as close as possible but I hope eventually I can get it 1:1, Reason being that I want this to be an evolution in FTL Modding and not a devolution in any aspect. One very basic thing I am excited for is an increase in the amount of sectors you can visit each run (8+) maybe even a sector map that allows you to make more choices!
I'm also excited to be able to control the max levels of systems so you can upgrade them a bit more, and maybe even create new systems.
The prospect of being able to create new races really excites me as well.
And being able to have more augment slots for a truly customizable ship! A way to make the Captains Edition trade system work more smoothly.
A way to make Lighter Than Air actually do some of the crazy things it wants to do.
Multiplayer

I hope you are considering these sorts of things...

Also, will other current mods still be able to work well with your clone? They wont have to be completely redone I mean... And how long exactly do you think this project will take you? How much programming experience do you have with things like this?

Re: Air Systems [DEV Please Look]
Original mods will not be compatible at all but this will have more modding capability than normal FTL. Me and my team also have alot of experience so we are 100% capable of this. If we think were ever not capable of something, you will see us posting on Facepunch but I don't see that happening any time soon. I also cannot borrow anything from FTL: Overdrive due to it being a different language. This could take about a year if done as a 100% of my time kind of thing which it wont but before then I will most likely be releasing Alpha and Beta versions for public use. Our goal is to make a version of FTL with an Addons folder akin to Garrysmod making most mods compatible with eachother by default. The 8+ sector thing you mentioned, Honestly if we do this as we plan to you can get 100+ sectors but remember that the more mods installed and the more content you add the longer the games load time will be. Eventually we will be Twitch Streaming the coding of it but we will do that when we find what we are doing interesting to people who don't know how to code. We also plan on making "Official" mods to start off the modding community and to show how mods could work. I have alot I want to say but I don't want to overhype this so the team has time to work on this and doesn't feel rushed.Russian Rockman wrote:Well... Daydream with me... I hope you are considering these sorts of things...I'm just very concerned that this will end up like FTL Overdrive and never be completed. It's a very difficult task you are proposing. One that no one else has done since FTL came out over a year ago. Is there anything from FTL Overdrive that you can borrow to make your job easier?
Also, will other current mods still be able to work well with your clone? They wont have to be completely redone I mean... And how long exactly do you think this project will take you? How much programming experience do you have with things like this?
Edit: I just read at the top of your comment you want to know what I think we will beable to do that we cant now? Well the goal is everything, but obviously that's not 100% possible; The only thing I can think of that we CANT do is 3d models but other than that I don't see anything we can't do, it would be even possible to make a mod that would add something as grand as multiplayer or adding a new system to ships or custom boss fights. Essentially the goal for this is to have unlimited capability for creation but we will see how that turns out hopefully it will be as amazing we think we can make it.
Because we don't program in the same language and I already have everything planned out so there would be many conflicts of interest and I'd rather not have that problem. It also wont be years.R4V3-0N wrote:why not help out over drive instead?.... it's better then starting at square 1 and putting years of hard work in vain....
