This should fix the shield: Make an img folder next to the data folder and make a ship folder inside that one and finally place the jelly_cruiser_2_shields1 in the ship folder.
Some of my FTL mods you may like, or hate, or... yeah:

Any new progress or updates being made for this ship? Hope its not getting dropped to the wayside :(
