I'm calling it now and saying the new race will be one of the following 3. (this is not not backed up by anything 'official')
1) a more cleaner/ finished ghosts.
2) giant green alien spiders
3) Space Jellyfish.
My reasons?
1 = it already exists, what prevents them from finishing it further?
2 = it exists in an event, why not make it appear in another event as an encounter?
3 = they called all there Slug ships "Jelly", there ships are jellyfish shape, and in game there ships are named after jellyfish. It may be possible a race that was thought to be a bad idea in the drawing boards could have been improved and implanted into AE.
Also do you think the manned doors/ sensors will get anything special if it's already at level 3?.
Okay, And also... lastly I want to know... will the Boss have the new systems as well?
There is a room right next to the shields that would be a nice place, and the boss is meant to have all possible systems (well stage 1 that is...)
I know that is mainly questions and assumptions but It does open some nice modding possibilities........
new event types? we can make all of Sleepers skins for races into the game/ replace the bad in game skins with the better ones, New weapon types? maybe even we able to make our own weapons using/ abusing some features we can mess with. list goes on.
AE R&D - What is new? What can we do now?

I really hope they do more with the boss than just add a few extra systems to it. The boss is a good challenge when you're new to the game, but it gets old really fast. Although, we're unlikely to hear about any changes until after the game comes out since it would be a really big spoiler.R4V3-0N wrote:Okay, And also... lastly I want to know... will the Boss have the new systems as well?

Point-Defense System.Sleeper Service wrote:Definitely looks like that. If you watch closely you can even see a flashing "PDS Lock-On" UI prompt at the top of the screen, shortly before the projectile hits. And there is this "PDS Danger" hazard sign, as mentioned in the OP... All this suggest that the Fleet can fire at you, in the form of this hazard like projectile. The developers can do this via some neat hardcoding, what I attempt in CE is just a workaround. So it's not going to quite as awesome as this, but I try getting close.dalolorn wrote: As for the projectile that pierces through the Kestrel and moves on, I believe it may be an additional hazard in the Fleet, similar to what you're implementing in CE?![]()
Also, no idea what PDS actually stands for.

Seems legit.dalolorn wrote:Point-Defense System.Sleeper Service wrote: Also, no idea what PDS actually stands for.
Meanwhile, someone on reddit put together a decent illustration of the stuff shown in the trailer, featuring more speculation.

I think the icon means that the crew member leveled up. The person manning the shields gets a 'point' when a shield depletes. Also, did the Mantis teleport inside the player ship at 00:14 (from the doors to the helm)?Sleeper Service wrote:
The Kestrel also gets a "Shield" drone. Not clear what it does, but there is a "Shield up!" icon left of the ship when it's shield gets depleted. Might be related.

That would indicate a drastic change in the way the game tells you your crew got experience. There is no logical reason for such a thing, therefore Sleeper's assumption is the more probable one.Eagle wrote:I think the icon means that the crew member leveled up. I think the following happened: the shield got hit, the guy manning the shield gets an extra point in his level up-bar, he levels up at the shields, there's an icon telling you that (not trying to be rude).dalolorn wrote:That would indicate a drastic change in the way the game tells you your crew got experience. That icon would be located above the system, if I remember correctly - and would have the system icon, no text included. This sounds like it's something else entirely.Eagle wrote:I think the following happened: the shield got hit, the guy manning the shield gets an extra point in his level up-bar, he levels up at the shields, there's an icon telling you that (not trying to be rude).dalolorn wrote:That would indicate a drastic change in the way the game tells you your crew got experience. I think we're talking about different icons. I mean the small green shield icon with an arrow next to it, which is located next to (I presume) the name of the guy who levelled up, on the left.dalolorn wrote:That icon would be located above the system, if I remember correctly - and would have the system icon, no text included.
