Not entirely true.

Maybe it's just in nebulas or against enemies with low level sensors, but I've definitely had enemies breaking down doors only to reach another vented portion of my ship. Using Rock A and Kestrel B in particular, I like to create multiple airless sections across the ship, and the enemy just wastes most of their time going from one killzone to another.

A small tip there: Even without sensors, you can see which of the system/subsystem rooms are on fire by watching the power bars in the bottom of the UI (any rooms on fire will have a red flame icon). Same goes for boarders (fist icon). Of course system-less rooms are still best to be vented preventively.

I think zarakon's point was, that they will never attack any system in the airless room (they might still go through it to get somewhere else). That matches my experience.

Become a master at using those airlocks and at least lvl 2 blast doors. 2 birds with one stone, really, unless that fire is somewhere you're trying to hide out.

My very favourite tactic? Vent from more than one location leaving a couple of doors to pound on, and when the boarders have picked a door, vent the other side of it. Nothing like having your boarders break through at half health to... more vacuum!

The tricky part is if you're also battling a ship at the same time, which is not always the case. If you are, then you can't afford to let your shield room go. But everything else is pretty much fair game to temporarily deal with the boarders. I think you'll find that they'll attempt to smash room equipment only until they start feeling the vacuum in that room (very important to open that door not let them smash through or you won't get effective vacuum) which means they usually run before actually destroying anything.

Also: multiple vents to the outside empty the air in an adjoining corridor faster.

Yeah, this game is absolute shit. I've seen others have similar issues where the game just deals you a trump card and you have no way of winning. I've routinely been unable to even make it out of the first sector because of a multitude of reasons. Examples include:
-med bay being caught on fire
-boarding parties coming on en masse
-door room on fire which means you can't vent which means you can't beat off the A) boarding party, B) massive fire that came out of nowhere
-inability to get anything back up because you constantly take fire from the ship and are repairing at X speed but the ship is attacking you at X*2 speed.

This game is broke as fuck and I'm sad to see people buying it.

Meh, I don't think shields are that important to keep manned unless you're fighting drones, in an asteroid field, or need to keep them at a decent level to protect against a nasty beam. I think weapons and the cockpit are more important to keep manned.

You, snipun, are a complete noob who doesn't want to learn how to play. :x

Medbay fires are easily extinguished on most ships without compromising the rest. Take the Kestrel A as an example.

Boarding parties are easy to fend off. Just vent the air in their path, herding them towards a medbay filled with troops.

Door room fires are quite easy to get rid of with anything that isn't a Zoltan or Mantis, as it's only 2 squares.

Uh, just how do you get into that kind of situation? It's rarely happened to me

To the original poster: I'm sorry you are having trouble... with alot of thought and practice you will get it. Overcoming these types of challenges is what this game is all about. To alot of us that's what makes it fun :)

To the others crying that this is a broken shitty game: This is a game for smart people. Go play CoD.
