Sadly, even if they were, there are only 3 colors and all sectors that use one would be affected. You could still not be able to differentiate between them.

Well if it was an XML, It'd have to have a list of what sectors have which of the 3 colors. If it had somewhere else a hex color code for those 3 choices, you could add 3 new colors and add rows for the homeworld coloring as well. Anyhow, nevermind. I don't really play anymore. I got sick of playing over and over for the same results repeatedly trying to get my stealth ship. Don't really care much about the others, I just don't like playing repeatedly trying to find one specific system just to possibly get the ship I like, only because it looks the best.

Why don't you unlock it using a cheat/editor? Yes, it's cheating, but the unlock isn't really skill based, it's a matter of being lucky enough to visit the correct beacon and having an Engi crewmember.

It's not a genuine achievement, so i don't think you need to burden yourself with endless replays. Try the profile editor.
