Do you think you could upload a couple more pictures highlighting the two weapon systems so we can see their stats and description?

Heavy crystal, does tons of damage if you can land a shot.

Burst, which strangely doesn't say it fires 3 shots (but it does).

Both of the weapons charge paaaainfully slowly in practice, leaving you kind of vulnerable in the first half minute of combat, more if your shots miss.
Also you can buy the weapons in the secret sector, I tried loading up the rock ship I was flying with them, but it couldn't output enough dps to keep the boss shield down, and I lost. They're cool and all, but the massive reload time gimps them pretty hard.

Much appreciated. So, trades firing speed for one unit of shield piercing. Hard to say if it is worth it until people use it more in practice.

Those reload times are ridiculous
The Starting Heavy Laser for the Alt Rock Ship is more powerful for the One shot (Faster reload, Chance of fire)
The one crystal weapon should have like Shield 2 Pierce for for that reload time.

The cooldowns are long because those weapons are almost always useful. For the first few sectors it's like having multi-shot missiles that don't consume "missiles". I didn't want them to be TOO op. That being said, maybe we can lower them a bit so the ship is at least fun to play with.
We'll think about it.

I am not sure if this was another of the Crystal Race quest starts, but I found a crystaline ship in an asteroid field, but could not get to it as apparently the asteroids were too thick and I had to leave...
TWICE in the same sector!
Torture! heh.
And immediately after was the Zoltar Homeworld Sector... damn!
This happened to me in the Rock Homeworld Sector, and like I said, not sure if it is another way of discovering the Crystal dudes and starting the new race quest line.
In case you were wondering, I had 2 in Piloting, maybe 3 is needed?
Anyone else had this?
Can anyone shed light if this is another start of the Crystaline Race quest?

If you have the rock plating you can always be successful. Getting the stasis pod is just the first step of the quest.

I just did, after ~21 hours of attempts. (immediately restarted game if the sector map did not display a green->green->red route). Got very lucky and hit engy->zoltan->rock homeworlds in quick succession on the winning attempt.
I can confirm that you get it by:
1. Getting the stasis pod in an engy sector (homeworld or plain) (fairly rare event)
2. Getting it opened in a zoltan sector (homeworld or plain) ('research testing' event, pod gives blue option, fairly common)
3. Getting to the rock homeworlds, and finding the crystal entrance encounter (not sure, could be fairly rare)
This is the layout:

The crystal weapons fire ridiculously slowly (a bit too slowly if you ask me, glaive beam feels faster), but they have a piercing effect.
Just thought I'd point out that #2 can also be accomplished in an engi controlled sector, as there are zoltan research facilities in these sectors as well. I was lucky enough to find and open a stasis pod in the same sector!
