Oh, you quoted the post containing FTL's error message window, so I assumed the problem was related to that.
In this case it looks like there's a problem with one of SMM's catalog files. Go to the backups folder in SMM's directory, and delete (or rename) current_catalog.json.

Re: Slipstream Mod Manager v1.6 (2014-10-25)
One thing that's been bugging me a bit about SMM was how it always launches FTL directly, and not via Steam... Which caused my time played to be absurdly low (which is probably better, given that most of the time I've been doing test runs). Sure you can just exit SMM and start FTL yourself, but it's a bother
So anyhow, I've modified SMM to include that feature. If you wish to give it a shot, here's the modified modman.jar. Go to SMM's directory, and replace the modman.jar already there with this one (you'll need to change the name, obviously). Then in SMM go to File > Preferences and tick the "run_steam_ftl" checkbox, and click "Apply". Now if you patch mods, FTL will be launched via Steam.
(of course, setting "never_run_ftl" must not be checked. Also, if the manager fails to locate Steam, it will launch FTL normally)
While I've tested this on Windows, I've no idea whatsoever whether this works on Mac or Linux. So if there are any such users here, I'd very much like confirmation, preferably with path to the Steam executable/app, since I had to guess that.

I find it a boon. My brother and I share the Steam Library. If I can launch FTL without using Steam, then I won't kick him off his/my games.kartoFlane wrote:One thing that's been bugging me a bit about SMM was how it always launches FTL directly, and not via Steam... So I have to relocate my ftl files because I located the wrong one. How can I do that?

In SMM, go File > Preferences, then scroll down to ftl_dats_path. Use it to locate the data.dat archive in your desired FTL installation.

That has never been a feature of mod manager. Better to just only put the ones you use often so you can hit the toggle all button.

Re: Slipstream Mod Manager v1.6 (2014-10-25)
Hi all im new here, and also new to the whole mod scene, so forgive any first time errors and such.
i was really interested in the Captain Edition mod for FTL so i downloaded everything needed and all the mods, then when i try to run Slipstream i get a error message of which i took a screen shot of. It sounds like the same error one of the previous posters said (yes i read the thread xD) to which someone replied a question back to him but he never responded again thus it whent unsolved. It seems to be some java error, and i have updated to the latest java so beyond that idk what to do, im not very pc savy. Also note the command prompt line u see in the jpg only pops up for a split secand, i had to catch that with a print screen and paste in paint to even see it.

Weird, the logging facilities fail to initialize... The only reason this could happen, I think, is that your download was somehow damaged. Try redownloading the manager -- make sure you extract it from the archive before attempting to run it.
