The ship rocks harshly as a small explosion rips through the aft cabin. You call for a damage report, and receive immediate responses from Evo and Lt. Saunders. The weapons and engines are still on track. Shields seem to be holding. It's hard to tell what the bomb was targeting. As an afterthought, you call for Dumg by name. No response.

Then the security system blares an alarm, interrupting your systems check. The internal sensors pick up sounds of boots clomping throughout the deck. You reach back to tap the control panel sealing the cockpit, but you're met with an nearly inaudible blip sound, almost drowned out by the intruder siren. The door remains in place. Suddenly, you don't need a damage report. Their strategy makes sense: they targeted your door system with their bomb.

Thinking on your feet, you figure that it's time to commit to your crew. The ship's not going anywhere without the Lanius and the fuel anyway. So there's no use sticking around the cockpit. You draw your sidearm and make your way towards the sounds of fighting.

You enter the sensor room to find Dumg locked down by criss-crossing gunfire. He seems to have taken refuge behind one of the analyzer stations, but his large frame juts out beyond it like a fork in a river. The two rebels are alternating shots against him, and the lasers seem to glance off of sides of his arms. You position yourself in the corridor leading into the room, and target the rebel farther down his flank. Your initial shot catches him squarely in the back, but he rolls behind a table, drawing you fully into the firefight. As you arrive, another explosion rocks the ship. You and your opponent trade shots, but it looks like you have the initiative on him. He'll likely go down before you do.

The same can not be said for Dumg. The initial two-on-one fight has left him fatigued. Although his body is not bloody, you suspect that the Rockman has sustained damage that would put down a human. Another shot from the other rebel connects with his hand, and his weapon falls to the floor. He crouches behind the terminal, waiting for what seems like inevitable coup-de-grace.

Then, unexpectedly, another burst of fire enters the fray. Propped up against the wall, Peterson unloads a salvo of rifle fire. This distraction gives Dumg the time to escape the room. Having successfully tagged out, you and Peterson finish the rebel intruders.

Finished with the men, you turn your attention back to the ships. Beyond the damage to the door system, you seem to have been relatively lucky. Engines sustained minor damage during your melee, but Evo was able to patch up everything before you even noticed the effects. There's a hull breach in one of the starboard corridors, but the vacuum is sealed into a limited area. Lt. Saunders reports that the artillery beam disabled your opponent's shields and engines, making pursuit impossible should you choose to flee. And, best still, Skorris is back with the fuel.

You return to the cockpit to:
1. jump to the next beacon
2. dodge the next few blasts of burst lasers in order to charge the artillery beam again and finish them off.

"Hold on to something, We're Jumping NOW!"

You practically yank the lever to the FTL drive, doing so kick-starts the jump sequence. Everything seems to skew a bit: The Orange-cyan of the Rebel elite fighter, the silhouette of Owen's Reach, even the stars themselves. Then a loud hum blazes through your ears as an enveloping light covers your ship and gravity lurches backwards.

This goes on for a few seconds, and then nebula gasses come into view. You immediately register a sensors down warning on your cockpit and you tense up: Anything at anytime can happen without you knowing. You will have to rely on the keen eyes of you and your crew.

You order periodic scans out the window of each crewmember's room they are currently in and stare at the screen spread across the cockpit. You wait for what seems like hours. Nothing is reported, all is too quiet.

The FTL Drive indicator dings again. This jump was uneventful, however you are managing to receive a distress beacon from the next sector closest to you. Do you...

1. Jump towards the distress beacon and see what is wrong?
2. Wait a while, conserve fuel, but expect danger to come your way?

You think its best to keep moveing, standing still in this nebular can be danjours who knows what lerks inbetween the clouds. You start the FTL drive with cornadets set to the distress beacon, when you get to the beacon you and your crew can not hide there surprise when you see a lanius ship melting the metal of a mantis boarding ship.

The mantis ship comes on to your coms, Screaming is all you can hear the constant screaming for help but then just as the screaming gets unbearable another ship comes on to your coms its the lanius ship. Thanks to Skorris he helps you translate the random clicks and grones in to something more understandable. When given the choice to leave or stay you stayed and helped one of our own for this you must be rewarded let us finish our current goal and we will give you a gift.

You have three choices

1. attack the lanius ship and try to save the mantis but bewared you dont know what type of fire power the lanius has

2. Wait it out let the mantis be melted down and clam your "reward"

3. Get the hell out of there and leave the mantis to there fate you don't know if the lanius can be fully trusted

You question about the reward the lanius have, but Skorris reassures you that lanius could be trustworthy, in his best way possible. They are scavengers, not fighters, like the mantis.

As you wait a few minutes, the mantis screams for help have stopped and the lanius ship approaches you. There was no com chatter, but they do release a crate of scrap. You collect the crate and scan it for scrap values. You notice something weird, some of the scrap seems to "activate..."

Suddenly, Evo the Engi tells everyone to evacuate, "Explosive Device detected. Evacuation = Necessary" You and your engi run like hell as the cargo bay explodes. You order the Engi to his station and you run to the cockpit.

You try to open up a com channel with the lanius ship, only to find the previous captain has been killed in a mutiny. The new captain's words come out surprisingly clear: "Why give you reward when we get more metal?" They close comms and power up weapons. You do the same and scan the enemy.

One shield, Burst laser Mk I, Clonebay, 9 Hull. Seems like an easy threat.

Your Hull Splitter beam is able to bypass 1 shield, but only at the cost of 1 damage. You can deal more damage if you take out the shields, however the burst laser also seems to be a threat, as you yourself also have one shield and the burst laser is able to fire more than one. You weigh your options carefully, but before you are able to fire the lanius fires first. It takes out the shield and scores a hit on the Medbay! Dammit Peterson, stop being so unlucky!

The Hull 75% warning goes off. Shit. The layout of the lanius states that the Shield and Weapon rooms are too far apart to hit both at the same time. You have to choose your target carefully...

1. Aim for the Shields and be able to do more damage!
2. Aim for the Weapons and no longer risk being shot at!

As your fire at the weapons your surprised to see the captain standing back up from behind the laniuse's window you see his corpse was dumped in the shield room and your relieved to see he's alive then you realize that saving him puts YOU at risk so you can
1. provide support fire to him in order to kill the crew and save him but risk fire from the lanius
2. kill the those metal craphead WHO CARES IF ONE GUY DIES!?!??!

# Out of story:
# Omg I was almost done and I accidentally pressed Ctrl+W which closes the tab... -_-.
# That's the last time I type a long post in the browser... Now to re-write it all..
#
# @Bosky2102: Lol, I looked at your join date and time. Looks like I wasn't the only one who registered in the middle of the night just to participate in this. xD

Continuation of story:

You decide to rescue the ex-Captain who remained loyal to the agreement.

The only way to achieve this would be to scare them into handing their ex-Captain over, as you do not have a Teleporter. Sending a pod would be useless as it could be easily shot down, and besides, Skorris is the only one in your crew who would not suffocate on the Lanius ship. A Teleporter would have been quite handy as you could attempt to teleport the ex-Captain directly to your ship, but you decide not to dwell on wishes.

You tell Lt. Saunders of your plan to scare the new Lanius Captain.

The Hull Splitter finished charging just as you finished speaking. You watch on your Scan Report Screen as the beam hits their Weapons room and then two systemless ones. With their Burst Laser disabled the rest of the plan should be easy.

You see their doors opening and closing on the Scan Report Screen - someone went to fix the damage done to the Weapons room. With 6 Hull points left, their Captain is confident that they can still fight. You are amazed by his stupidity, as you already know the result of the next volley of the Hull Splitter.

As expected, the next beam damaged their Piloting system enough to disable it. With 3 Hull points left, the dumb Captain finally realized the danger he is in. "NO! DON'T KILL US!", came the plea for mercy over the coms. "WE CAN GIVE YOU SOME OF WHAT'S IN OUR STOCK, JUST SPARE OUR LIVES, I BEG YOU!"

"You will hand over EVERYTHING you have and also send us your Captain. Your REAL Captain," you reply in the most menacing voice you could muster.

"As you wish! Just let us leave in peace!", comes the response.

After watching doors opening and closing on your reports screen, you finally see a pod emerge from the Lanius ship.

You click the button that opens the docking bay for smaller crafts and tell Evo to take over the Piloting room while you go and meet the Lanius ex-Captain. You also tell Dumg to come help carry the scrap you expect the pod to be loaded with.

You arrive to the docking bay before Dumg does (surprise, surprise - he is a Rock after all :D). Just as you are about to click the button that opens the pod, its doors slide open and a surprising scene greets you. Instead of one injured Lanius, you are shocked to see THREE very healthy-looking ones, armed and ready to fight.

They open fire and you quickly dodge and take cover behind the nearest terminal.

"Lanius Piloting room state: fixed. FTL Drive = charging," you hear Evo's voice over your ship's internal coms.

The news seems to take the boarding Lanius by surprise. This gives you a moment to think things over.

The fact that they are surprised must mean that they weren't expecting this. Their new Captain must be betraying them, too. He is getting ready to escape in case things don't go as he planned.

Your train of thought is interrupted by a burning feeling in your lungs. With three Lanius in one room, oxygen is becoming scarcer by the second. You cannot stay in this room for much longer!

You quickly think about your options. Do you:
1. Use the terminal you are hiding behind to command your crew to prevent the Lanius ship from escaping, or,

2. Escape the room while the Lanius are off-guard and rush to the Piloting room to regain control over the situation.

Note to next person to continue the story: remember that Skorris could try to speak sense into the three boarding Lanius, telling them that their Captain has been betraying them all along etc. Also remember that the ex-Captain is still on-board the Lanius ship. He might be able to do something while the new Captain is distracted, trying to escape. ;)

#Out of story
#I am disappointed that nobody has taken this up for a while guess I will do it then
#@SeishinSpirit yeah I read the first bit and wanted more =)
#@ Zaisher No need to be so rude anybody can contribute as much or as little as they want also your post added #even less than his did

With the air slowly decreasing you have no option but to flee to the piloting room to try and regain control of the situation. The first thing you do is tell the Lt. Saunders to get to the door controls and lock it all down apart from crew with access codes. As you try to think of what you could do to get rid of the lanuis aboard your ship but before you can even come up with any ideas Skorris bursts in to the room shouting, They broken the door down there heading in to the engine room also give me a chance to talk to them over the in ship coms maybe I can talk some sense in to them.
As you think of Skorris proposal a another idea comes to mind, Let them get to the engine room and when they are there open the airlocks and suck them out to space.

1. Go with Skorris idea to try and talk some sense in to them. All though it does come to mind that it might not work and Skorris could get hurt or worse

2. Try to lead the Lanuis to the engines airlock and blast them out, You know it wont kill them but they would be gone

#OOS: I was honestly waiting for someone else to post, I can't really post every other post!#

It is definitely risky, but you think to yourself if the boarding Lanius get sent out the airlock, they are just going to come back. They are anaerobic, somewhat metallic beings, they can survive the vacuum of space.

You send in Skorris to the engine room. From the looks of it, Skorris is trying his damnedest to talk some sense into the boarders, but they aren't listening. When all seems its worst, the previous captain suddenly teleports into the engine room with a bomb. You think he told Skorris to get out, because Skorris then immediately exits the room. An explosion occurs, your engines get cut off, and you lose sensor feed into the engine rooms due to too much smoke. Only the captain exits the room, but two of the enemy lanius teleport back aboard their ship after a few cycles. Looks like the fight is still on!

Your Hull splitter beam charges up again. It looks like you may have to finish them off. But do you really?

1. Fire the Hull Splitter beam and take out the remaining Lanius

2. Try to give them another chance at surrender using diplomatic means.
