Ahh, but Megaman is actually a skill-based game! *ducks*

I understand your frustration, but SushaBrancaleone is absolutely right:

Like life, FTL is about the journey, my friend.

When I started checking this forum regularly I was baffled and kind of jealous of what lots of people had to show. All ships unlocked, several victories and so on so forth.

I was like "Am I doing anything wrong?", "Do I suck at this game?"

But then I realized that I have only 22 hours into FTL so far. About 13 runs total (including achievement runs). I have only 1 victory (normal) with the Engi Cruiser. Ships unlocked: Kestrel B, Federation A/B, Engi A/B, Zoltan A/B, Stealth A, Rock A.

Most of the people that has a lot to show has been playing this game for a long, long time now. They got it all due to persistence, skills, experience and knowledge. All of that takes time.

Getting new ships easily would take away all the thrill and satisfaction.

This game is brutal and that is what makes it great.

Keep trying and it will all come naturally.

Have a great journey! :)

True, as I commented in other thread before.
People who try their effort (with action not with forum post) to understand the game and learn from mistake will gain most profit. Is just like we need face some obstacles in life, it only make us stronger if we take it bravely.

People who beat game on normal without mod it easier are brothers/sisters to each other.

Tbh you're on a straw man here, first post was about the crystal ship unlock and not plain unlocking of everything from day one.

I rethought my approach to the game and decided, as my first rogue-like, that playing the game over and over is part of the package. I beat the flagship on normal finally, but still haven't unlocked the ships I want (mantis and slug). I'm thinking if I stop trying for them and just enjoy the game they will come before too long.

I believe that starting from normal is wrong. The game is clearly designed to unlock everything on easy, and then re-unlock again on normal.
