It is truly a shame that FTL is so limited with resolutions

Postby AzuredreamsXT » Sat Sep 29, 2012 1:37 am

During my perusal of reviews for the game, I frequently read that FTL was netbook friendly. Upon purchasing and starting up the game however, I find that it does not support smaller resolutions (which many netbooks have). Otherwise it runs fine, but it does not fit completely on the screen.

With all that extra kickstarter funding, you'd think the game would be a bit more accessible.

Regardless, I do not regret the purchase. I am happy to support games as unique and fun as this (I know damnwell I would love the game if I could actually play it).

Hopefully the devs will add more resolution options, until then I can only look on at the rest of you with jealousy as you cruise the stars :|

FTL doesn't fit my screen but ohwell it's still fun, and moving the window lots of times doesn't bother me.

What is the resolution of your screen? 1024x600?

Just asking so I can be sure to add it to Overdrive.

It might not be worth it to you but I posted a way to get around the limitation in the second part of this post:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1847&start=30#p14522

I've personally logged over 60 hours of play now using that method on my netbook (Toshiba NB505, base resolution 1024x600).

Works fine on my netbook. It's just that results vary from machine to machine.

I wish people would stop throwing the kickstarter money around as a reason things should be different. Two guys made this. Two. And they are doing a really fine job of it. Give it time. Things will improve.

Engine rewrite with a focus on moddability. It will support all common resolutions.

I have a widescreen monitor but if I want to watch youtube while I play then I have to squeeze the video into the corner of the screen and even then it gets partly covered up.

Try not to be so hostile, the game only released a week or two ago, they are both working on bug fixes and polish atm.
