Anormaly low number of events? [SOLVED]

Postby MxClood » Mon Apr 17, 2017 3:36 pm

EDIT: Solved: It seems i had a strange series of repetitive events. Now the distribution of events seems balanced again. And as posted below, this impression was surely reinforced by my expectations.

Hi, first of all : fantastic game!
My issue here is more a feeling that a real quantifiable bug.

Context : I used to play the standard edition back in 2014, and beat the game few times.
At that time, i felt that there was a good variety of events. For around 30 hours that i played, it felt totally normal and ok that i was beginning to know most of them.

Now for my issue: I decided to play the game again these days; i played approximatively 10 hours at the moment (a dozen of games, from short to long), in Advanced Edition.
But now in nearly all my playthroughs, i encounter quite the same events: "Giant spiders"; "give 5 missiles or 15 missiles to some civilians"; a mantis ship you can help navigate through nebula if you got a rockman; "the unicorn you can try to peacefully talk to"; escort a ship to a quest marker which results in a mantis trap; following a civilan ship through asteroids; and a few others.
I am not talking of combat events (Auto-station combat, rebel ship combat, etc...).

For example, i'd say that 5 to 10 of these non-combat events occur in about 4 plays out of 5? Does this seem normal?

note:
- I don't encounter each of them in each playthough, but it still feels like the game has fewer events that it should have. I rarely encounter an unknow event now that i have played about a dozen of average playthrough.
- World are well randomly generated.
- I reinstalled the game.

Maybe it is just me. If it is an expected result, i apologize for this post.

Apologizes for my english,
Best regards,
Maxime

edit: If it helps, my system is Windows 10 64 bits, Steam.

So, you've played for 30 hours? Well, maybe that's why.

I used to follow this game a whole lot when advanced edition came out, got it just last year or so. When I played, there were a lot of results from me having watched at least 50 hours worth of content. First of all, I beat the flagship on my first run, and second of all, I reconigzed too many events. It was mostly all stuff I had seen before. Because of this, I felt that there was not a lot of variety. I don't really think it's the events that changed, I think it's just you knowing them more.

Well i admit i think this is just me. I checked a list of random events on wikia, and it seems i encountered many of them.

I don't remember events from when i played in 2014 (30 hours), so i'm not sure if it has an impact today.
But given the "not-repetitive" impression i got the first time i played, and the expectation that Advanced Edition would bring many more events, i may have been too idealistic about it and that's what happened.

Anyway, i gotta say i'm still enjoying it really much, and it was not a criticism at all.
I just discover a new way of playing i never knew before (boarding with mantis ship), and it made me rediscover the game. I'm smiling like a kid !
Fantastic game.
