Tabitha looked at Targon "It's probably the bloodloss starving my brain out but why do other Mantis treat you like an abomination?" she asked.
"I mean when a Mantis looks at someone like me, they call me a foolish meatsack but you... they seem to have a mixture of fear and anger..." she continued "When I was a child, I read a documentary about a thing that Humans used to do to each other just because they had a different skin colour, or they were the children of such people."
"Is that the same thing happening in most Mantis society and cultures? Because I've been blue, red and green Mantis get along in the same hive and can even work together as a team... what makes you different besides the depth perception?"
She coughed "Sorry... I'm rambling aren't I?"

Targon shrugged. "I believe you're referring to racism. I guess so." He was only paying a little attention to Tabitha because he was frustrated about not getting the card. "I can't jump, very funny, Quintet." he tried to convince the AI to give him the card.
"There's so much information about mechanics on that thing, and Data's inside it also.. I would like to talk to him, you know. He was a friend of mine, one of my only friends actually. So could I have the card, please and thank you?"
Targon crawled on the floor, miserably. "Look, I'm groveling. Isn't that a sign of submitting? Just please give me the chip."

"I don't think our Captain would want to give you the chip to another AI back..." Tabitha remarked "Another artificial intelligence is like a roommate. You give them a part of the house, then suddenly they're making agreements and stipulations on who uses the recycle bin and keeping track of their process spending or whatever AI's do..."
And then one of them stops paying the rent and complains how the place is too crowded for their exquisite mind... she thought to herself, And eventually someone leaves...

"Oh, not at all. For one, I'm currently copying all of Data's information onto the database because he refused to share it himself. It's A.I. etiquette. Make sure everything in your power is also a piece of information in the database. Second of all, I will give him a chance to talk to you. You just won't get the chip. Try anything strange to retrieve him and.. well, you'll fail."
Quintet checked on Data's progress. It was going along smoothly. He quickly looked over his files. He had already taken a copy of all the confidential information he had gained for himself, so it was open for quicker access. After doing a routine security check, he took a medical scan of the newly arrived lanius. Finding no mental insanity, he looked him in the eyes and turned on a translator.
"Hey. Looks like you're not in the best shape. Don't try and hurt anyone, everyone's armed. Just follow me, alright? I'll get you to the medbay.. with some metal."

"So I wonder who's in that escape pod?" Tabitha asked Targon "No offense but I do hope it's a Human... or at least someone with standards when it comes to food and doesn't just eat rancid space whale meat in a pantry that hasn't been restocked since the Mantis/Federation War."
Although I heard devilled ham makes for great creamed corn when you leave it in there for years, she thought to herself.

"I hope it's something dead, so you can cook it." Targon said earnestly. "But if it's something alive then I want it to be a hybrid of some kind, as long as it doesn't eat us. Speaking of which, I'm starving." Targon wobbled up onto his legs and managed to lean toward the door and trot out awkwardly to the kitchen.
Five minutes later he contacted Tabitha. "I've got good news and bad news. Good news is we have, or had I should say, more space whale. Bad news is the bathroom is due to a good cleaning, and I'm not going near that pit for awhile."

Seeing that the mess hall had been restocked though made her smile. "Real food!" she exclaimed as Targon then announced about the state of the bathroom
"I'm sure Quintet could do it with a drone or something. AI's don't have or need a sense of smell" she replied, taking a deep breath "And that's why living, organic beings are always going to be better at cooking. Because we have senses a machine deems unnecessary to function nor do they have any respect for what goes into a meal beyond statistics."

"I will take all the whale meat and chuck it out the airlock and you'll be stuck on Verde-esque rations for a week. Got it?"
Quintet sent a drone in to automatically clean the restroom after leading the new lanius to the medbay. He quickly checked the lanius' statistics. He was in good mental shape but was currently in shock. He decided to let the medbay do its thing.

Targon was in an outrage. "No more space whale!? This is stupidity! Who even said I was the one who made the mess in the stinkin' bano!?" Growling his head off, he went to his room and worked on his drone until further notice.

"You can't just throw out the good food because of a rotten batch" Tabitha said "Especially if the good food was bought to replace the rotten batch."
She wondered who the new person was as she prepared the meals.
