Well I didn't look into it(or how the launcher works), so I have no idea
But I'm pretty sure there's some way of getting the path to where the class was launched from(or smth like it).
If you spend enough time to research this - I have no doubt the solutuion can be found.
Though I sure don't have time for this(I'm struggling with pushing the last steps to release a0.4), and It's not that important anyway

Can you add the GameData.dat file to ignore list, so that it's not downloaded everytime you do a checkout, but rather just modify the server IP inside it?
That way the sound settings and player name will be saved.

On the starting station there's a shipyard system - the icon looks like the hacking system in FTL.
Walk over to it and use it.

Wow, I've been gone a while. I've read most of what I missed, and good progress looks to have been made. So yeah, guys... Very good work. Looking forward to 0.4

Too bad the guys that said that they can help with mob sprites, have also gone away, and it doesn't seem like they're gona return.

I can make mob sprites! Don't expect even a decent quality, though.
