Boarders ignore alternate paths

Postby Derakon » Fri Sep 28, 2012 5:09 am

If a boarder is attacking a door, and you open an alternate route to where they want to go, they won't stop attacking the door. Case in point:

Even though there's a door right next to him he's still trying to break down the one just to his south.

Thanks for the report and the clear screenshot.

You seem to be effective at finding quirks in the system. If you could please post any future bug reports to our official tracker: https://getsatisfaction.com/ftlgame you'll really make it easier on me to get these fixed before they fall into obscurity on the forum where they can get lost, forgotten or never seen.

Happy to help out, though I'm not certain there exists a satisfactory solution to this problem -- either the AI is dumb or you can lead them in circles or doors have bizarre rules that only make sense in this particular context.

Anyway, I've posted this and one other issue to the getsatisfaction site, and I'll post future bug reports there as well.

I'd assume with this, the (or at least, a) solution would be to have the AI occasionally re-pathfind, so that it can recognize that there's now a much cheaper path to the room it's aiming for available.
