Can't rename ships (Mac v 1.6.7)

Whenever I rename a ship and hit enter or return, I get the pinwheel of death for my mouse cursor and the game hangs.

either your save file is corrupted or you're experiencing some sort of incompatibility if you're using mods (they have to be compatibile with your version). I'd first verify game files on steam, and if that doesnt help, try disabling steam cloud sync because that also causes issues sometimes. Again if that doesn't help try renaming or backing up the save file and relaunch.
