1. Fire the Hull Splitter beam and take out the remaining Lanius

These scumbags have had their chance. Diplomacy was not their strong suit, and now it's time for them to pay. The beam glistens across the gap in space and slices off several of the exterior spines of the Lanius ship. The remaining hull collapses under the vacuum, and starts to drift apart. Evo meticulously begins finding intact chunks of the ship, netting you a small amount of scrap.

You look to the ex-captain. His body is completely incinerated by the force of his bomb. It seems somewhat obvious that it was meant as a last hurrah. He didn't want to damage your ship, he wanted vengeance against those who betrayed him. The air in the room remains in place, which is a really odd feeling in their presence. You don't bother rushing around to the medbay, you know he's not going to make it.

The body stumbles forward. His somewhat distended head moves. The voice that comes out is grating and raspy. "Uplink. Uplink."

"His last request." Skorris chimes in.

You grab the ex-captain's head. It breaks away from the body roughly. The voice continues to moan "Uplink." You find an extension cord that looks like it will fit into his exposed spinal column. The column glows with a bluish light for a moment, then looks to attach.

Your map has been updated!

With that, the skull closes its eyes.

On the screen, you see a news report. It shows a set of miners on a remote planet, surrounding a man in a white lab coat. They're all staring at something. The footage is taken with steady-cam, and you wish that you could use a holo-display to get a closer look. Sadly, you can't. After a moment, the scientist reveals what they're all looking at. It's an ornate rod, about four feet in length.

The report changes. It states that local scientists discover alien artifact with unknown properties. The rod seems to affect nearby users perception of time. The scientists are still in the early phases of their study. One scientist optimistically states that this artifact could be the key to time travel.

Your map now has a quest marker. It is a significant detour from the exit beacon. It will probably take you several jumps to get there.

Maybe this was the reason for the mutiny aboard the Lanius ship. It does seem like the sort of thing that raises an intense ethical conundrum. You weigh your options, with the keen eye for the potential HR BS that might ensue.

1. Jump directly towards the quest marker ASAP, and hope you have time to get to the exit beacon
2. Ignore the quest marker as hogwash, and head towards the exit beacon ASAP
3. Jump towards a point that is closer and not directly at either marker, effectively putting off the decision and hedging your bets
4. Take more time to study the report, and Federation databases, for hopes of more clues to give a better decision

1 upon arriving at the jump node the mining planet imploded causing multiple hull breaches

do you :

1 fix the breaches or 2 try to investigate the implosion

You really shouldn't have jumped there. Hull is now less than 50% and the breaches are really draining the oxygen in the ship. What's more, the shields are down, the oxygen room is broken, your weapons are offline and the engines are kaput. You regain your momentum and ask a status report of all the crew.

Lt. Saunders reports a massive hull breach in the medbay had vented Peterson out the ship. Unlucky as he is, this was a bit too much, even for a guy like Peterson. You are going to miss the heck out of him. On the bright side, the medbay is still functional!

You order Skorris to fix the oxygen, and send Evo and Saunders to fix some of the breaches. Dumg decides he should fix shields instead, you don't mind.

You mind even less when you see an Industial beam and a Dual Laser floating towards you. However, a warning sign goes off as the mining planet that had recently imploded is about to implode again, going to ultimately take the planet out of existence, and anything still in the sector with it.

You only have time to take one weapon. Which one will it be?

1. Take the Hasta Beam
2. Take the Dual Lasers

1 take the duel lasers

upon taking the lasers you get he hello out do dodge (really thogh you ftl as soon as its cahrged and are met with a covet that oblivus that you are the code red target hails you @ this is the uss sliperry when wet please jump now or we eill open fire" do you" 1 jump as son as possible or 2 open fire on the corvett

The situation seems to be out of hand from the moment it started. The USS Slippery When Wet has their weapons hot before your jump momentum ended. You suspect that their weapons were armed before you arrived. There has to be something else here. Something that you're missing.

You stare into the face of the Slippery's captain. It's a face you've seen before, in Federation training exercises, high level meetings, and occasionally in the field. It belongs to Captain Mathis Cahill.

The face is telling you something, something you're also missing. His brows are wrinkled with deep animosity. There is no sign of recognition in his eyes. He's not looking at you. He's looking either around or through you. It's impossible to tell why, but his mind is not focused.

This is a friend that is treating you like an enemy. A sentence forms in your mind... an attempt to reach a diplomatic solution. But no. You can tell that that's not an option. You decide that the best course is to give this some time. The world of Federation officers recently got a whole lot smaller. You suspect you will see him again.

1 Jump as soon as possible.
The jump drive sputters along for another few, painful seconds, then dings. You punch the button.

Space stretches, then returns. Immediately, you're staring now an asteroid field. Scratch that. You're looking at an asteroid wave. Normal asteroids have at least some semblance of uniformity to them, as they are influenced by either planet-sided or star-sized objects with significantly larger mass. These are not. They seem to be... loose. The star-map indicates that there shouldn't be an asteroid field here. There should be a planet. But you're not seeing the planet.

The asteroids don't seem to care about your map. They're are all coming at you. Shields are already at 50%

You grab the stick.

1 Ride the wave. Turn the ship around and try to match the outward momentum of the asteroids to minimize collisions. This will hinder your ability to jump, because it takes you away from the beacon, complicating astro-navigation.
2 Fight through the wave. Turn the ship straight at the oncoming asteroids and dodge like you've never dodged before.

2. Fight the wave

You fly through the wave, firing the dual lasers at an asteroid. You dodge most but a couple get through.


You see the Slippery on the aft cameras, and fire the lasers at a large, tough asteroid, knocking it into the Slippery. They are disabled, and you can do one of two things.

1. Destroy and loot the ship.

2. Try to save it from the other asteroides.

Deciding to give the Slippery when Wet a second chance, you decide to 2. Try to save it from the other asteroids. You get in position beside the Slippery when Wet and face the wave of asteroids.

The USS Slippery when Wet hails you again, this time the captain is seeing clearly. "Captain...? What are you doing here? What am I doing here? I have tons of questions, but first lets get out of this predicament." Captain Cahill's change of heart catches you off guard as the last of your shields gets depleted by a stray asteroid.

You fire the dual lasers and the Hull splitting beam in a slow but accurate tandem pattern. When it is no longer disabled, the Slippery when Wet's burst laser I seems to help your situation a bit. You manage to shoot down and dodge enough asteroids to not get your hull damaged this time, and the Slippery when Wet seems to have made it out too.

Captain Cahill hails you once more: "Just like old times, right? I wish I could give you supplies to help with whatever mission you are in but our stores are--" Just then, you hear a bit of a buzzing sound as the captain's eyes furrow again and once more has that empty-ish expression. "You WILL die, this time, Fed!" You realize the situation almost instantly: Mind Control!

You feel extremely sorry for Cahill, but the situation looks grim. Initial scans do not detect the Mind Controller ship anywhere, though you could still look for it.

Do you:

1. Search for the ship that is Mind Controlling the captain

2. Try to disable the USS Slippery when Wet again

3. Jump away because this situation is dangerous enough!

upon finding teh said ship #(atuo hak mk 1) you disable it mind control, it surrenderssaying it will downloaditslef into a hlographic form to help crew the ship do u?

1 finish it off- send it so sillicon hell!
2 accept its surrender
