Re: One final chance: An FTL-RP
Targon remained in the weapons to check the weapons for any glitches after the previous fight, then as he was returning to his room he heard the quirky Quintet saying that it commanded the ship. "Finally, some clarification." He mumbled under his breath.
I've created Type C Hulls for the enemy Mantis, Slug, Rock, and Zoltan ships, and anyone can use these for a mod.
Check out the details here.

Kr heard the announcement of the AI and was not surprised. He still didn't know about this AI's ability to lead, much less its decision making. "I'll keep looking for the worst, this AI is pretty unstable" he thought.

Sp was performing the routine tests of the FTL drive, when suddenly his glow turned yellow.
Right after that he heard on the intercom that the AI present on the ship declared to be it's captain.
He did not care about who was in charge, he cared only about the FTL drive being treated rightfully.
And that energy rerouting that Sp detected was not too good for the drive.
Sp came in contact with the ship's power grid and rerouted the missing energy back to the FTL.
- Do not worry drive. He said.
- I will keep us safe...
- If that AI ever tries to take away our power supply, I will overload the power grid and burn him out this ship myself.
- Do not worry, we will be ok.
- Yes...
Sp's glow returned to green.
- Yes, this is better...
- Now we can continue.

Tabitha checked the status of the salvage run. There was no high-quality chefs' equipment in the wreckage but there was plenty of salvage for the cargo hold.
"Captain, what should we do with all the salvage? Upgrade the engines or save it for a shop later on?" she asked the AI while preparing the FTL drive. The Sector Map looked clear for the moment but she knew from her training that it would soon fill up with red spots.

"The engines at one more level are priority, but save the rest for a store and look to pick a fight. And I can hear whoever thinks they can burn me off the system. Don't even try."
Quintet thought over his plan. He had to make it to the base with a well-armed ship, but weapons became rare after the main of the war, as they had either been destroyed or stolen by pirates, and he knew the caches that had been set had been looted during the war. He needed to contact him again, even though it was risky with crew on-board.
"Look, before we go pick more fights, the standard federation regulations say you need at least 4-5 hours of some form of rest over every 20 FTL jumps to keep sanity and activity at optimum, therefore, we're going to have to pull into a station and have all of you rest. It's not exactly my choice, got it?"
"There isn't good or bad. There's just insane."

"We've only jumped once, Captain" Tabitha said "Also, I've read the regulations and there was nothing mentioned about requiring rest after every 20 jumps. There's a system of shifts in place to maintain crew awareness and alertness at all times... I was planning the same sort of system running for my restaurant so I could have it open at all hours."
She wondered why the cruiser had to pull into a station like a motel in order to get the crew rested. We have bunks, she thought to herself, Just what is that machine planning anyway?

Targon watched through the video cam as the supplies were being collected. It was the typical odds and ends, no cooking supplies for Tabitha, sadly, but he did notice a few crucial parts to weaponry and drones. He decided to tinker with them and when the loading crew was done he went down into the hull with some clever Mantis tools that he could hold comfortably, not the clunky, over-sized tools the other species used. I will never understand them in that perspective. He thought to himself, then pondered,
I wonder what's with the Zoltan. Sp had only emerged once as far as he knew, and he was glad it wasn't the kind that blabbed on and on about being one with the Great Eye and everything around Itself, and how diplomacy was the wisest choice and feelings came first...Targon blenched thinking about it.

"We need to pull in the base. No more questions. You wouldn't want people to inquiry about how you make your signature dish, would you? Your business over in mantis space at 64-676-5676-56 would be done for. Oh, and don't ask me how i know. I *always* know. Now, pull us into the nearest station."
Quintet shut down communications with the crew and began to idle over his situation. None of the crew had looked much more than shallow toys with no history needed, but suspicion aroused constantly. He had already started massive calculations on the ship to analyze the crew against each-other and averages. Many of the crew matched up well with their pasts, but the problem was he was yet to find the spy - the one crew-member they had sent on the ship to monitor and report Quintet's condition to see if he was fit for further use or to be terminated. Quintet knew they couldn't terminate him, as he was hidden in many of their systems, lying dormant - but he needed to be approved to be used further to get the access he needed. There was nobody that had aroused any suspicions, even with Quintet's overly powerful systems. It seemed the crew he had were too... normal. Perfectly different as to be perfectly fit in. Nothing too in the ordinary that it aroused suspicions, but everything lined up as possible for the state the federation was in.
"Oh, and leave your headsets on the ship. I won't need to contact you during the time i use to get the ship in a good shape, so you'll be on your own. Just don't get yourself killed."

Tabitha scratched her head in confusion. She then laughed. Loudly. "Are you threatening me?" she asked "Because that sounded like you were threatening me."
"Besides, I don't have any business in Mantis Space. Everyone knows straight out of the Ramsey Culinary Academy that you don't start food businesses in Mantis-controlled sectors."
"You either get torn apart by the hungry hives or you work for Mantis Charlies" she continued "And last time I checked, they don't hire Humans to do the cooking; they're the presentation."
She looked at the sector map. There were several unknown beacons in the area. One of them was emitting a distress signal. "Captain, you do know there is a distress signal at one of these beacons? I recommend we forget about sleep for the moment; Federation Protocol indicates we should check what's going on."

"Fair enough. Plot a course for the distress beacon. And that could have been a threat, depending on what you do next. Besides, my calculations were never perfect. Now, arm the weapons. This could be a trap. And, on that note, power the medbay and grab your laser pistols. I hope you haven't gotten too connected to who's here."
(I think someone was requesting a death. This is your chance.)
