"From what I've heard, teleporters are not standard Federation equipment. There was this ship captain... real laser weapon aficionado. He said he had to pay a lot of Scrap to get himself such a system on his Kestrel" Tabitha said to Arkangel, suddenly standing nearby to the Lanius. She seemed to have no qualms standing around a metal creature that could drain a room of oxygen very quickly.
She then realised that she was in the FTL drive room and that there was some crazy Zoltan working with the drive. "Huh, so that's why?" she asked "I take it that our engineer wants to work on the FTL drive in peace... understandable. But like in a restaurant, you can't get a moment's peace on a starship to work on your creations."
She then headed for the helm and took her seat, preparing the FTL drives and doing final flight checks to make sure everything was in order for launch.

"What's holding us up?" Kr wondered out loud. Since all the primary stations were taken, he headed for the sensors only to find it already occupied. The lack of oxygen had him gasping for air and backing out of the room. "Try not to suffocate me again, pewter man." It was Arkangel, the lanius. Kr headed for the door control, angry at having been already given such a low position. He sat down and watched the doors open and close, guessing who was going where until the boredom overcame him and he fell asleep on the control panel.

"I'm waiting for approval from the ship's computer, the control tower and the Captain for departure. By the way, who is our Captain?" Tabitha said over the comms to Kr "My briefing did not tell me who'd be commanding this ship, just that I was to be assigned the helm."
The Federation's really shorthanded of skilled officers if they don't even let me know the commander... she thought to herself, flicking a few more switches on the control panel. Suddenly a nearby replicator started pouring out a brown sludge that was hot to the touch. She took a sip and immediately gagged. "Next time I'll just get the beans replicated and work from there... this is disgusting" she grumbled "Is the replicator recycling sewage?"

"Here's advice to everyone who was in the same room as me. Wear a respirator next time."
I do random stuff and surf on the fourms. That's about it.

Tabitha pondered the idea and looked under the console for a respirator. "There's none here" she said "Must be the cutbacks in funding."
Then again I felt fine in proximity to the metal bird... the O2 light was probably just busted for that corridor... just what do they do with all that air anyway? she thought to herself.

Targon emerged from his quarters wearing his respirator and holding a container of something in his hand. He wandered around the ship until he found Arkangel. "Hey, you!" He skittered over to the Lanius and introduced himself. "I see you're having problems with oxygen. I can help." He held up the container, which was a spray bottle of sorts. "Spray this into your spikes three times a day and you won't have a problem. I thought I'd bring it along just in case a Lanius came on board."
With that Targon handed it to the Lanius and sped off to his room. On the way he found Kr the Mantis asleep at the door controls, his shelled face pressed against the keyboard and making the doors in the room open and shut with soft thuds. I think I'll just leave him... Targon thought to himself, but before he left he locked down the door to his room with a password, then went to the eating quarters to see if anything there was good.

I've created Type C Hulls for the enemy Mantis, Slug, Rock, and Zoltan ships, and anyone can use these for a mod.

"Everyone's at their stations? Good. Prepare to jump."
The ship accelerated into jump space and quickly arrived at an empty beacon.
"This is good. All crew to the crew quarters, I've got some calls to make."
The A.I. functioned his other self on the commander's hijacked computer.
"You gave me mantis."
"We di-"
"Don't you realize those monsters are why I'm here in the first place? DO YOU?"
"Quintet! Please do-GAAaahhh..."
"I realize all of you in the quarters heard that. Take that as a warning if you feel like revolting. Now return to stations, please."

Kr had an unpleasant awakening by falling out of his chair. "We must have jumped" he thought. The AI's announcement soon after made him suspicious. "I knew there was something wrong here" Kr muttered to himself. There's no captain, and the federation has hired mercenaries to fight rebels. The AI seemed to be unstable too. Either the federation was even more desperate than before, or there was something more going on here. Kr suspected the latter. He left door control and went to his quarters to arm himself. He gathered an oldish laser pistol and a small blade to hide just in case. Satisfied, he cautiously walked back to his station.

Tabitha checked the drive status. Everything seemed clear as the ship arrived at what appeared to be an empty beacon. She put the controls on auto-pilot so it wouldn't get buffeted around by micrometeors that impacted with the shield and to avoid all high gravity wells, like a planet's orbit.
She then headed for the quarters to hear the ship's computer complaining about the crew to itself?
"I'm starting to think that the Federation wanted us all dead..." she remarked seeing as how the AI was being hostile towards the Mantis... she knew how dangerous the insects could get when annoyed by the meatsacks they kept company with and a hostile AI meant the crew would suffer as well.
She checked her blaster to see it was still on her and the standard-issue combat knife. She brushed past the Lanius on her way back to the station, accidentally tearing part of her uniform on a sharp spike. "Arkangel isn't it? I'm not too familiar with the Lanius and I read that you can form a great deal of things out of metal? Do you think you can help me get those replicators repaired before we jump again? I don't think we'll go very far if even the coffee is connected to the waste treatment tanks."
