Final ship frustrations...

GAH!!!!!

I am HATING the requirements for the last ship.
I'm flying around in a Rockman ship, trying to get that last achievement of theirs and unlock the Crystal ship. But it's downright pissing me off now.

First off, finding the escape pod is rare enough as it is.
Then happening to get the medical experiment event after you have it is a long shot.
And having the Rockman homeworld after both of those are done? It's just stupid.

I've gone through about 50+ games with the Rockman ship now. Most games I never see the escape pod. Though one game I actually found TWO in the FIRST sector.
But getting the pod activated has happened three, maybe four times now.
And of course, none of those times were kind enough to let me have the Rockman homeworld available after the crewman joins.

Hell, most times I do find the pod it's in sectors 6 or 7, making it impossible to complete.

Is there ANY way to improve the chances of this event working?
I'm thinking of just uninstalling the game at this point.

Well I wouldn't normally recommend using a "cheat" to unlock the ships, but it's a better option than quitting entirely.

Just because you don't have one ship doesn't mean you have to uninstall the game. The Crystalline ship is made to be the hardest to get. I've unlocked all ships plus three layouts but I haven't unlocked the Crystalline ship. Just keep playing; you'll be able to do it eventually.

unlock almost all ships with kestral B. This ship has the best early game, and has no real weakness. It can go with limited upgrades for harder ship unlocks. I dont like it later game because it really need different weapons and what not so i dont recommend beating the game with the thing, because it needs a complete weaposn refit and drone and cloak to get the boss down. best bet is to roam the second sectors and restart until you get the pod, then go to leave sector and see if there are a lot of earlyy greens and late red sectors.

edit: though i suppose when you go to leave the secter first secter you should servey the other secter lays out to see if its worth trying :P

I have unlocked everything else. Gotten all ships, with the alternate layouts.

Gotten all achievements except for the third Rockman ship one, getting the Crystal ship.
It's just frustrating as hell with it being so stupidly random.

I miss that one, too, along with the Mantis Ship, strangely enough. I had the statis pod plenty of times, and even the crystal guy, but never been able to finish it.

Anyway, I don't see it as a minus, its something to keep me at it.. After 2 weeks of non stop playing some sort of goal helps.

I've said it before -- the error in how this was designed is not in how hard it is to get the crystalline ship, but in building in an achievement in finding it while using the rock vessel. You could have played 50 times using a variety of ships, unlocking more achievements, having fun even if it's a little goal-oriented, but instead you used the same ship over and over, probably had a bunch of runs where you ran out of missiles (frustrating when you'd rather be using a different ship which wouldn't be so constrained), and completely goal-oriented which makes the experience much more frustrating. It was a poor design choice to be sure.

So whats the big deal, you only need 2 of 3 to unlock Layout B and the other 2 are very easy to get.

The deal (maybe not big) is that it would be a shame to get the crystal ship (is that a nod to The Doors?) with some other vessel and have the achievement sitting there unearned basically forever, because you're never going to go through all this trouble a second time.

But that achievement does not do anything once the two easier ones are done, so why does it matter?
