I'm running CE and I just had my game lock up, but because of the silly save system I can't retry from a previous save and see if it doesn't happen again.

Other than constantly savive, renaming the saves, ane restarting the game; is there a way to manually save?

Other than that? No. The saving system isn't "silly", BTW, it's to prevent people from save scumming.
